Norma, PAM's driver liaison, retiring; job eliminated

If they would tell us, what our preplan's where it make things so much easier. Like this week i had all my runs planned out all the way til tomorrow morning. So i knew when and where i had to be and by what times and not wait for that stupid little beep that seems to take forever. If i where you i will start making calls and say the team thing is not working out and you want to go solo and get away from that slave labor of .17 cpm.

 

I heard she was being replaced by Dave Finley ...

 

They are allowed to tell you if you have a preplan ahead of time, but most times they don't (especially in solo driving cases) because they change so often. You can't make it to the p/u on time. You won't have time to make it to the delivery. Someone else needs the load you are planned on to get home. There is something else in your area closer than your preplan that they want you to pick up instead. Etc, etc, etc...

 

BUT...if you are AT the receiver and are in the process of getting empty, give your DM a call, tell him/her that you are almost empty, and are wondering if you are preplanned, so you know which way to start heading after you're empty so you wont block the receiver's drive while you are waiting on your load to be sent....most times they'll tell you the location you're picking up. I did this when I was training so we wouldn't lose much time, and so I'd know how much time I had in between so I could get a #### (darn) nap lol

 

My 4 last runs where all pre planned for the week since I was turning my truck in north Jackson, so that was the only reason I was planned on multiple auto loads for the whole week. I even called in on night shift just to check and see and they where confused with all the notes and preplans that automotive had on me. So it's rare and mostly likely won't happen for many solo drivers. I can say if every week was like my last week with communication and preplans setup like they did for to get me to Ohio. I might would have stayed a few months longer.
