The "American Inn" on the east side of town off I-44?
You're more brave than I. That place gives me the creeps every time I drive by it. Their only frequent guests are the Springfield police

Mind you that I was only there for four days and never got to drive the trucks I thought it was a pretty good school. Before I went I didn't know anything and I still got good grades on the permit test. The main building at the training facility could use some upgrades but I wasn't expecting a college campus. The trainers were laid back but I found them to be quite informative to the questions I had .
They could definitely find a better hotel to put people in though. They should work out a deal with a hotel with kitchenettes or something other than just a microwave and mini fridge. Especially when there are people that pay that much money and have to leave their vehicles with their families and the American Inn is so far away from any stores.
Overall I thought it was a pretty good learning experience and given the chance would do it again but I would complete next time. I have nobody to blame but me for why I got booted and the same goes for everyone else there. The trucking industry has gotten a lot stricter over the years and with good reason. Society has dictated a lot more professionalism. -
Interesting, I'm a 3rd weeker as well. Hmmm....stay away? Dude.....Did you read the whole thread or just the first post? I am at the end of my 3rd week and going to test for my cdl tomorrow. I have had zero issues with the program, facilities, trainers or hotel. Sure, the equipment could be upgraded, but what do you expect when most sudents have never been in a truck....and some honestly have no business trying to get in a truck.
I did tons of research prior to signing on with the school and PAM, so I wouldn't have any surprises when I got here. I came here with an open mind and ready to learn. I soaked up any and all the information that I could and did my homework. If I don't pass my testing tomorrow, I will be shocked. All in all, I believe the school has done their job, and so far they have done everything they said they were going to do. So, IMO, great program for anyone who will buckle down and apply themselves.
The American Inn ain't the Hilton for sure but what do you expect out of a $29.95 per night room? -
Hope it goes/went well for your CDL test ecmcintosh.
I just got back home with my CDL from the North Little Rock, AR C1 center.
I've been up 24 hours now, and need sleep, but all I can say is yea, C1 training does what they say they will do. Nothing more, nothing less. Just apply yourself, and do your best, cant fail if those 2 factors are in place. -
I went through C1 in Springfield MO in 2008. All in all it was a pretty good experience. I lived nearby so didn't have to stay at the motel. I'm sure they have a whole new staff since I was there.

I hope congratulations are in order for you Eric!!

Hey guys. Posting from the computer in my dining room in Murray, Ky. Got home last night at about 2 AM with my Class A CDL in hand. All in all, I'm pleased with my experience, and wouldn't hesitate to do it again if I had to.
And, the hotel wasn't really that bad. I only saw one cop cruise through the motel parking lot one time in the three weeks I was there. -
Yea, I was pleased with my overall experience too, a few bad things went down, nothing major... but mostly everything was satisfactory.
You get your licensed swapped out yet? I still have to go to my local DMV and provide proof of residency. I went up there yesterday and didn't have anything to prove my residence on me, so I'll take everything I've got up there and say here, pick whatever you like out... lol.
