Yeah, but you haven't seen the tires Knight expects us to drive on. Not sure if chaining will do me any good if I'm already rolling on baloney skins

ill throw them if i really have to but here is the reason i dont. Back in 2001 i had a good friend get out to chain his truck.. while putting the chains on an out of control 4 wheeler struck and killed him. he died instantly and left a wife and 4 young kids behind. He also worked on my Race team for a couple of years. I believe that if it is that bad you have to chain then maybe you should park it if you have enough time..if you dont then you should make the call that you feel is best for you. No one is twisting anyone arms saying chain up or dont...
Mommas_money_maker, ship71021 and Giggles the Original Thank this. -
I never use chains. Whips and leather straps maybe, but no chains.

second THATS THE POINT I HAVE been trying to make...its DANGEROUS!!!TheRoadWarrior Thanks this. -
I agree with the "if you don't have to chain" crowd, However ours is an industry where sometimes it is required. I am recovering from a cold I picked up in Oregon after 2 separate occasions of chain/remove chains. First was just the top side of Cabbage, the 2nd was to get over Baker, and it was nothing but SLUSH!!. These DOT idiots need to learn chains are meant for SNOW, they are useless on ice, and uncalled for in slush.
I'm a southern guy, I like the high deserts and I love the gulf coast, but when it comes time to drive up north I know it may be required. I wish I had practiced throwing iron though as Otter had mentioned in his training video.otherhalftw Thanks this. -
First time chaining up, and first time running that kind of weather in truck with a heavy set. Talk about scared, i was a little bit. Good grief. My rear trailer almost came out from under me a few times, not a nice feeling.
Finally made it into Sac at like 8am this morning, now doing a layover till tonight. It was bad last night, #### near white out with at least 20mph winds. -
So far, I've gotten lucky and haven't had to chain yet.......
Came close to up on Cabbage about a month ago but since Oregon apparently gets trigger happy with their chain law like California does, the wife and I decided to wait it out for about 20, 30 minutes. I wasn't ruining a set of tires and chains for nearly bare asphalt with a tiny amount of slush on it. -

Don't Like Chains.....depends on what you're using them for

Only chained up once in my career. If it gets that bad to where I need to chain up then I have no business driving anyway.
Giggles the Original Thanks this.
