I thought the 30 minute break before 8 hours on duty took effect 2/27.

You can run by the new rules effective July 1, 2013 if you like.

There is no need to worry about them until then.

There will be many court challenges on them before then.

If you review the ones effective for 2/27/12 you will note that you could not use them before that date.

I will not adhere to the rules until they take place July 1, 2013.

O.K. couple of questions, we have used DDL in the office as a "check" tool for a couple of years.

The program does work well as far as catching stupid mistakes, however as far as I know YOU have to be aware of current speed limits to make sure drivers don't run too fast in a certain segment.

Does the GPS feature address this?

Also, we are looking at taking the fleet up to the next step, we are looking at buying all of the trucks the new 5.3 Galaxy note/phone.

This way I can have voice, text, email, gps, contact with my drivers at any time. Is there going to be an app to be able to use any of these programs on a notebook/phone?

Or is there any way to download something like this on a note/phone? Please keep in mind I am not a real computer wiz by any stretch, so keep it simple.

If so I would imagine that drivers could then simply email their logs (with an electronic sig) to us every nite.

Does anyone see any real problems with trying to do this, it sure would save a ton of time in the office IF the drivers logs were already "checked" as they come in.

I'm just not ready to turn all of my trucks over to EOBR's but I do see the value of having all of this data at my fingertips, and formatted neatly.

    Thanks In advance,

    Stan

Ok, I see what your saying. My company wants us to follow them now. So I'm stuck.

Especially if they never get implemented because of court challenges.

Otherwise, maybe not a bad idea.

Correct. I wrote the print (although it is not so fine.)

My post was in response to the one about putting it on more than one computer actually. The upgrade pack is not a requirement and really only becomes critical if the DOT changes the rules - about a 5-year span since the last time for example.

I read thru the posts and I dont see where anyone mentions if this program or any others that are worth while operate on a MAC OS. If anyone can direct me to this type of electronic logbook which is available for the MAC, let me know. Thanks.
