There you go. Ask somebody about getting a different truck. If they say no, find out what their biggest competition is, and tell them; "Well, I bet x company has bigger cabs with heaters in them".. You might get the boot, but it might also work.
im a complaining rookie, am I wrong?

Many companies have APUS in all their trks.No reason why this company can't do the same.I mean it's ALL ABOUT SAFETY so they say.Well not getting a good night sleep because you can't idle to either keep warm or cool falls right into a safety issue
-
Well that sucks OP. The only minor negative nitpick I can say about my company are the mid roofs. I see guys with the raised sleepers and in my trucking school one of the trucks had the really high ceiling and man it felt so huge. It was also nice and relaxing looking out of the windows on top. I really wish my truck had that, especially since the company I work for do so much to make everyone happy I am surprised they do not offer the high ceilings.

Most idle shut-offs are timed to 5 minutes, and they can usually be disabled.
In the Volvo it was setting the cruise control.
In the ProStar it is depressing the clutch.
I had a Cascadia for a month, but can't seem to remember what I did.
But the solution is usually in the owners manual.
And, you have to do it while the 'idle shutoff' idiot light is on. Not before, or it simply resets the 5 minute timer.
As to your other concerns, I would be the same.
I am 6'1", and I need a little extra space.
If I were to be stuck in a mid-roof I would probably do my best to 'find' a problem that would have it in the shop long enough that I could be assigned another truck. -
Go buy your own truck and you can have one as big as you want...otherwise shut up or quit.
Go put a million miles in on this GMC then come back and tell us how uncomfortable that Pete was... and, yes, that IS a sleeper.....

BTW - where did they put they engine in those old snub-nosers .... oh yeah, I forgot, there was a pusher-motor at the back of the trailer. The headlights on the tractor could be changed thru the glove box if it was raining. Lol.
Seriously, I sympathize with Krooser. I spent many a night streached out over the canvas seat of my trusty old Kiezer Deauce and a half falling asleep to the drone of 'squitoes in/on my ear.

if were me , i just suck it up, cruise i play around with the flipper swicth on the dash, move it and down too see if it bumps the rpm up, thats what i did on my 06 freightshaker, other then that its motel time on the company, i spent many nights in a cold truck, till i learn , you have too talk too your dm alot, he might swing a few things and get you a room if more then 3 nights , waiting too unload, but if only one night no go, i seen only one mid roof pete at my work, it was empty, and i thought it was nice, im 5-2, but as you step back from the driver area too the rear , the floor drop down about 6 inchs , had plenty head room, the bed was like a twin size, i liked that truck, although that floor takes some getting used too

Maybe I was a little harsh but c'mon are you a man or some whiney little kid? You have a job to do... do it with the tools you are given or go back to Burger King
Here's what I drove when I had 6 months of miles under my belt... FWD non-sleeper glider kit that was originally supposed to be a fire truck. I slept under the trailer using my Dad's WWII Navy hammock and some c-clamps or I slept across the seats. There were thousand's of us back then running long haul with day cab's.
I ran this FWD from August of '72 until February of '73. I made every state east of the big river except Maine and ran as far west as Denver... 93,000 miles in that time period and only got ONE motel room (in Hot-lanta when it was 100F plus!).Attached Files:
