I've ran all the lower 48 and 3 Provinces in Canada. I've never had any problems in other states except Cali. It seems that they have the worst people in the scale houses doing DOT inspections. I never had one that was a total jerk. I'm always polite it's the way I was raised. They do things to find a reason to give you a ticket.

I one problem in Indiana one time with a new DOT that started to write me up for falsifying my log. I had just left the consignee and logged 0800. He said I was falsifying my log because I was showing the wrong time. I had him get a supervisor over there to confirm I was on EDT not EST. He didn't know most states had to change the time up one hour in the summer.

I've had a lot of inspections over the years and Cali it's always something. Most of the times it's for lights on the mirrors, mud flap held up with a CB cord (she hated to have to write off that fix it ticket) and brakes. It seems when the service truck was parked at the scale they would have a lot of trucks that had brake checks that had to get fixed. Other states checked me and let me go.

Texas is ranked highest for stops on cmv's by a long shot. Don't quite remember the list but I think GA. was number 2. ( for cmv roadsides )

I had two roadsides in KY around Lexington vicinity. I don't think I had any in GA or TX. In coop, I remember two in CA, two in VA, one in TN, one in MD, one in NC, one roadside in RI, IL, IA and NE.

I guess it all depends on ones running lanes.

it also has to do with luck and I believe to some extent the appearance of your truck. I sometimes think if it looks nice they;ll not mess with you because they know you take care of it. IMO

I remember my trainer saying that 50 times. Wash your truck before going into CA. They do pick up on stuff like that. A clean truck means you have pride in your ride!

The deal is, when your a jerk getting out of your cab at an inspection your headed for trouble. If your running over weight, over lengh, speeding, etc... you can not blame the cop because your stupid.

Ive been inspected in most of the states and never had any problems out of the inpection personel. Not even in CA.

Texas is installing a new super coop on par with Fla. at the 821 WB 10. Doesn't appear that it will make it this year as they are still in the dirt / drainage phase but anything is possible.

That's one of my major freight lanes to get chemicals out of the P.A. refineries. Not good and no way around with out major miles / time.... and of course you can't raise the rate.......

"Eastbound I-70" headed for Donner ??? hmm. last I looked Donner is off of I-80. "Cajone" ?? It's Cajon. And while your all busy bashing California, I notice a ton of you are still out here hauling freight. And FYI, California does NOT enforce all parts of the new CSA regulations, by choice. Ask, the next time you are in one of our scales. One brake out of adjustment in our neighboring state of Arizona will put you OOS. Not in California. If you act like a human being they will work with you. If you want to be a "scale house lawyer" and argue, then you will have issues. Oregon and Washington, to me are much more petty than California has ever been.
