I live in oregon and need to to send my cobra 148 to a good cb shop that can build a radio that will last and work to the fullest it can. No hack jobs I want it done right the first time. Any info on a good cb guy or shop that you trust and have had good results with? Thanks and keep er in the hammer lane. Ryan

PS. Will a uniden mic work on a cobra radio? Thanks Again!

Thanks for the come back Mud Dog. I have a Cobra 29 that wont transmit but i can hear static. It was givin to me so i am not sure whats wong with in but every thing seems to work but i cant get anyone to answer my radio checks. I thought it might be the mic because its a uniden mic pluged into a cobra radio. Any ideas what might be wrong?

Number of things. Im far from an expert but could be a bad connection at the cb and or antenna or a bigger problem. someone should pop by and give you better advice

Well if you want to mail it, or your gonna be in my area, I can point you in the right direction, (he has many radios shipped to him for work) and you will be well pleased with the result.

i've had 2 Uniden mikes die on me over the years, if your going have the Cobra fixed, splurge and get a noise cancelling mic like Road King or Astatic.
As for shop, i really like Extreme CB in Albuquerque across from Flying J

If it takes a radioman 4 hours to fix a radio he is not a qualified radioman. It should not take longer than 20 to 30 minutes to repair the average cb radio, of course that would be by a tech. 35 per hour thats less than 10.00 in labor plus the average transistor or diode another couple of bucks. average repair should run 25.00 to 50.00 bucks max.

If your in the Bakersfield area go by Jerico's hes honest, and a great tech. You will be there less than an hour as a rule.
