Could someone please give me the rpm range and speeds for upshifting and downshifting an 8 speed. Im pretty sure the rpm range is 1000-1500 but im unsure of the speeds, especially for downshifting. Ive only driven a 10 speed but ill need to know an 8 speed for my road test. Thanks a ton.

Should be 400 rpm splits. Try shifting at 900-1300 on the low range and 1100-1500 on the high side. 900-1300 on your drops.

When I change trannies I just tend to trust my ears. They'll tell you what to do if you're tuned in to the engine like you should be.

Series 60's sound fine at 14-18 but the MPG's suck up there!

I upshift around 1400' and down i try to be below 900. As a rule of thumb, when going down, multiply gear by 5 for mph. Ex. 35 mph, 7th, 25 mph, 5th.
Charlie Mac, cuzzin it and xFreeWord420x Thank this. -
Wish someone would have told me that when I was going through school.. that is a #### good ROT.

Yeah, the single stack mack attack would cough and die if I shifted then.. But I think our trucks are geared differently, since every load puts us at at least 80,000.. I shift @ about 2000-2100.. and down at 12-1300..
