The sector I am in is down, I have been hauling A&E freight for the past 5 years and the rates in this sector have dropped from 3.00 per mile to 2.00 or less per mile over the past couple of years.
I guess those with their own authority have a different perspective from what I am seeing. Would like to know what I am missing here though.
I am always willing to learn, guess I would need someone like Bill to take me under his wings...lol. I am in the process of moving to Landstar atm and am hoping this will be a good move for me.

Not sure what happened in the A&E market. Your are not the first I have heard from that said this happening.

From the large carrier prospective it seems like all of them are making big pushes towards brokering more freight and power only programs.

Landstar has special programs for premium carriers. Mercer will provide a dedicated dispatcher for carriers and has just started doing power only for special projects. TMC, Schnieder, England...

With compliance costs continuing to increase with all the other costs companies are finding that they have to build a strong base of outside carriers with good safety scores.

I keep saying CSA is a game changer. My conversations with large carriers only strengthen my opinion.

It was never a secret it paid well. Been in global wars for 10 years. Handwriting was on the wall. That's my take.

So how long until I fail?

I bought my own new truck and paid it off with no internet and no cell phone.

Some guys can't even succeed nowadays with all the help in the world.

(I just a citation the other day from the Indiana State Police for going 57 in a 55:biggrin_25510:

On the warning he put my speed as N/A..... guess HE was even embarassed by stopping me??? )

Bad thing about getting stopped and them writing you up with undetermined speed it hits you hard on your CSA..10 points plus the modifier.

I've been seeing this more and more,it's a good way to screw a driver over.

Only comes to points when the ticket is issued and there is an inspection. Otherwise no points.

Had a car been driving 2 miles over the posted speed limit the officer would have let him go even 5 miles over nothing would have happened.Deffinately no justice for the truckers is there.
