That would be news to me mate. I researched it quite thoroughly, and found that the EU3000 does not have a fuel pump. The kits with the new caps offer no option for the 3000, just the 1 and 2000.
Look at these links I found when looking, just be sure to look at the EU3000 models etc:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/EU-3000-HON...274?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19c311a2aa (note the "elevated above the generator" statement.
The ones with just a new cap and hose will not work with the 3000 though, as they do not have a pump.
This is the place I found that dies make one, but would probably void the excellent 3yr warranty:

Not saying it cannot be done, just not as easy as the vacuum pump equipped ones.

Not sure what kind of pictures you need, but I do have a thread in the Maint forum / Western Star where I reinforced the roof. Today I removed the condenser/fan and lines to them... Then spent a couple hours patching up holes... I'm just about ready to hook up the electronics and see if I can still start the generator from the control pad.

Ran into a driver today with a rooftop Unit. He had a diesel generator that ran it mounted in a box he made to his frame rails under his headache rack. A very nice setup. The generator cost him $1,600 and was 6,500 watts. It had a mechanical fuel pump so all he had to do was run a line from his fuel tanks. He got his rooftop unit from a junk yard, said it came off a 70's Pete and he had an HVAC shop repair it costing him a total of $400 for the unit and repairs.

I'm still debating on what route to take. I have an opportunity to get a Dynasys system at an amazingly cheap price thru a friend who is a vendor so I might just take that route as it will be comparable to the same cost as the Honda and rooftop prices.

This is all that is left of the HVAC part of the system under the bunk of the proheat system. Now that figured what I needed to keep the generator operational, I will design a shore power setup to replace this and add a circuit breaker.

    How noisy was the generator?

The guy that helped me with the test on fuel consumption on my APU had a rooftop and removed it. Said he saw .5 gal decline in MPG with it. He now has engineered something similar as what you would see on Carrier/Tripac. However a low profile would likely not be as bad.

Personally, the noise would be my objection to an inexpensive portable diesel generator. The expensive RV diesels are pretty quiet, but the affordable ones I've seen so far sound like 3 lawnmowers running at full throttle. :biggrin_25513:

Hauling the stuff I haul, I doubt any real world loss in MPG myself. When I have a 140' windmill blade behind me, or a 14' wide load, the rooftop unit will be the least of my problems...:biggrin_25524:
Now if you run a truck that has all the wind deflector stuff, and haul a van/reefer, then I can maybe see it, but would still have to see the figures for myself.
