My wife tells me of her days of being a waitress through college. And she too worked real hard so we always take care of our waitresses and bartenders. Forget the dunkin donuts workers or anyone who has one out. The wash guys in wildwood fl once told me hey for $10 I'll wash your engine don't tell them at the window. I don't know if that's a tip though.

We don't really have it down. We tip waitresses/bartenders/mailmen/barbers/ but not grocery baggers/dentists/gardners/. Then we tip the doorman at a swanky hotel, but not the desk clerk. The waiter, but not the cook/hostess. The valet, but not the janitor. Some fools even tip the dealer in a casino, IF they win. Huh ?

that being said I do tip for good service at a restaurant. If I get poor service I will leave a penny.Any waitress that has been doing the job for any amount of time will know they screwed-up in the service.

I agree again tiping a waitress a penny is an insult and she/he at that point should know that it was a reflection of service. Gizmo man you are great and make me laugh but I do agree with you

I got my truck washed at the beacon in SLC yesterday and the main "nozzelman" was very attentive. We went around the bobtail picking out spots that needed some extra attention. I never had a beacon employee do that, except for the engine steam, so I tipped him $5.

To each his own,but i think you did the right thing. I'm sure it didn't put you in the poor house and in my opinion shows respect and graditude for the service he gave you. I agree with that and if that makes me stupid, then so be it. My belief is that what you put out as you travel through this world returns to you one way or another. Be it good or evil.

    I never tip them.

Every time they wash my Cascadia it shorts out something electrical! Currently my tail lights are not shutting off unless I throw the power cutoff switch in the cab.

Oh wait, that is not their fault...

Tipping is great for the persons spirit, they feel there not just a robot washing people truck. and when you tip them there quality of work and there morale is up as well.. all in all? washing your truck does deserve a tip imo.

I've tipped the waitress and the cooks at a longhorn steakhouse where I used to go 3 times per week. I go there often and get the same thing every time. The time I tipped both was because the dish I got that time was the best its ever been. So I gave both the waitress and cook $10 each.

I believe in karma, I tip good when service is good. I don't tip at fast food restaurants though, except for Hardees, they bring your food to you and the nice girl even took my drink and filled it for me. So I tipped her.

Not foolish, I see it out of respect. But maybe I'm just a foolish man from the south.
