Just wondering how often this happens or is it a freak event? Also, are dry van's much more likely to get blown over than reefer or flatbed's? Thanks.
Is it rare for high wind to blow a truck over?

I only seen it once in DesMoines winds were so strong and fierce trks were in the ditch completly rolled over.My aadvice is if winds are that strong then park it till it gets calmer.I don't think dry vans are more likely to roll over. It's all in how much weight you're pulling.Sometimes driving when it's windy can really wear ya out.You hang on to the steering wheel with both hands using all the strength you have trying to keep it on the road.My shoulders and neck start hurting.

this can happen anywear anytime, seen lots newbees get into trouble coming out of tunnels and the side wind cacthes ,em also overpass same way, road cond plays a big part of this, but yes think of a van like those big box kites you see in stores , since there about the same design , they would have lift value too em, what i do is when i pull in the rest area and crank the dolly down, less rockin that way,

in california,if your truck blows over, you'll get a ticket for driving in unsafe conditions.and for fun, they'll give you another one for blocking traffic.

The wind still rocks the cab/sleeper. The landing gear down will help reduce the buck and roll.

Acer925 Everett is right. It can happen anytime and anywhere. Some areas are worse than others. I-80 in WY and I-10 from Banning Calif to Phoeniz,Az are two bad areas and have been closed down because of high winds. The highest recorded gust of wind on I-10 I know of here in the Coachella Valley is 95mph. The problem along I-10 is its Desert and the sand gets kicked up and you'll have zero vis real quick. This happens more often in the Phoenix area than here. Springtime in the Plains States and Midwest is the worse because thats the traditional tornado season.
