We are a small company out of North Central Arkansas and have a hard time finding drivers. Insurance company wants them to have 2yrs recent verifiable experience. We have ran adds in several newspapers in about a 200 mile radius with no luck. Does any body else have this problem?

Are you just not getting any responses at all or are they calling and getting more info and moving on from there?

basically no response and the ones that do you can tell it's just a call so they can keep their unemployment going by making a contact. some you talk to and at the end they tell you oh my license are or were suspended or i've had a dwi or something that no company would hire them.

Difficult to find what you are looking for these days, I was helping a person screen new drivers since I took some time off the road.

Not very rewarding and most are from way over yonder and he is here in Florida, this state is a dead zone for drivers or for drivers looking for work.

Your drivers are your best recruiters. Keep them happy, and they will tell their friends. I personally never pay much attention to a companies recruiting efforts- it's all about what the drivers say. Too many companies lie, so any experienced driver is going to be jaded and cynical.

1nonly, I agree 100% we try to hire from people our drivers know and think they would make us a good driver but with 4 trucks and the area we are in which is in the middle of no where they only know so many people.

aiwiron, we are in the same boat lol

Sounds like it, I would take some runs for him but with only 7k miles running a reefer it would worry me to death that something I did would go wrong.

My buddy has a good rep just ran into a few bad apples and took some time for it to show up, not many people want to live here or run out of Florida for the most part.

I treat my drivers real good ,so they stay around longer.with out good drivers you will go broke .treat them as you want to be treated.i don't have a turn over of drivers .they are happy .if they need something i get it for them .they make a good living at what we do .its not hard work just tedious .

A company that lays out the 2 year requirement is always going to be hard pressed to find workers. At 2 years the drivers that were struggling to find good work will have found a company that was willing to take them with less time required.

Personally, I would find a different insurer. Try Ooida.com and ask if they have any recommendations.

I don't agree with the 2yrs either but it's the insurance company with that rule. How are you going to get experience if no one will let you drive? There is no in between you can either drive a truck or you can't. We treat our drivers good but it's like ever since we got the 4th truck we can't keep a 4th driver and we live in the middle of no where so drivers are hard to find, but with running adds in area pappers I just can't believe we don't get any more calls than we do.
