I have it installed on my Galaxy 949. It's ok, but like Rat pointed out, there's no distance. Just helps get over the locals. Hind-sight... I wished I wouldn't have had it installed, and just bought a separate linear. If there were any good CB shops locally, I'd take it in, have the RFX75 removed, and offer it for trade on a small linear. I'm even considering on sending it to one.
RFX75 add on linear

You would not get much for it on a trade. You can buy the RFX-75 new for about $35. You would be upside down just getting it removed. Because it would cost you more than it worth. Better off just buying another radio and amp.

Anytime you increase the total power output that your setup does also increases the transmit range, over the years i have talked just as far with 100 watts as i have with 1000 watts+. While it's true that you have use considerably more power than 100 watts for the receiving station to see a huge increase in over all signal strenght, going from 30 watts to 100 watts will do wonders for someone wanting just a little extra talk power.
Contrary to popular belief. Installation of an amplifier is not supposed to make you sound louder, just makes your signal travel further. If it does make you sound stronger than your radio was tuned by someone who did not know what they were doing! -
I'd say it can't compete with a linear based on power output. But for the guys running company trucks that can't really install an external linear, or have no place to put it, and if you can't afford a fancy high power export radio, the RFX 75 is pretty cool. It's cheap bolt on power that works like it's supposed to. I think with the RFX 75, getting real distance is just a matter of proper antenna setup and tuning, same as with any other setup.

Kinda like my connex. I can have the carrier set at a low key and still going to 200ish on pep power (when you talk into the mic. Or I can crank up the carrier and still swing 200ish pep. I get out further when I have the carrier cranked up then if I have it turned down to less then ten watts.
When skip conditions are excellent, then I have talked around the country ,litterally, on less then 10 watts carrier. You just have to catch a moment when everyone is quiet for a second. Now when I go to 400+ watts of carrier then I don't have to wait for it to get quiet.
That is all I really know, if someone wants to further explain the difference between carrier and pep then please do. I would love to see a video gate of someone recieving a transmission with 4 watts carrier then have them receiving the same transmission with 100 or more watts carrier. -
Big_m Thanks this. -
