We get paid Flat Rates for the runs (each run has its own set rate), we get an extra $5 for pulling a set (thats each way), and we get paid by the hour to work the dock, $16/hr with a $0.50 raise every 6 months till you hit $18/hr, we get $15/hr for waiting (like waiting at a meet point) and $15/hr while broke down. We dont get paid to fuel/ Pre-Trip/ hook (i was told by a Driver they pay $7somthing to put together a set but im not sure on that one)
Local drivers get OT after 55hrs
Mileage pay starts at $0.50cpm (not sure who's getting paid by the mile...Local maybe?)

I think the run is based on mileage and the average time it takes to get there.
I'm glad you're liking it man. At least you can have some semblance of a normal life and sleep in your own bed. Now time to meet the ladies..hahahah.
What do you drive? sterling? -
American-Trucker Thanks this.
-
yea a sterling day cab, its either that or i can drive a International 9400 with a Sleeper. I like the rear window in the day cabs and i dont see a reason to have the extra weight and wheelbase. The Sterlings ride much smoother, the only plus side of the Sheet spreaders is they go 75+, the sterlings only go 70 which is the highest speed limit around here anyway.
we dont have assigned trucks, its first come first serve although everone has a truck they like to use so im just useing one that no one on nights was useing.

Since I also came from Watkins Shepard LTL to real LTL, I can tell you also if you ever get sick of nights.. doing P/D really isn't as much of a headache as it was delivering furniture!
I always wanted to do L/H also, but after doing P/D for so many years during the day, I enjoy the activity and mingling with people. Plus I'm paid for everything I do! It's almost like a dedicated route after you've been running the same areas for a while. I hardly ever have to look up an address these days.American-Trucker Thanks this. -
i like Line Haul because i dont ever have to see/talk to/deal with/ slap around a customer
P/D looks like it has some good points but i'm gonna try to stick with line haul, we have more 1st shift line haul runs then we have 2nd shift. Also a guy thats only been here 3 months just moved up to first shift line haul, apparently these guys that work nights want nights so when 1st shift jobs open theres no compition and they dont go by seniority here like the biger LTL companies.
American TruckerACH1130 Thanks this. -
Don't blame you. Just so #### hard to keep my eyes open around 4am in the morning!
American-Trucker and CenutryClass Thank this. -
i was expecting to have problems with the night shift weather it be having trouble staying awake while working, or having trouble sleeping during the day, but i haven't had a problem with either. For the longer runs I drink water on the way out then Mt. Dew on the way back so far so good lol

Oh i miss my old sterling 432-6663 at CWF. That thing was a power house, ran great, etc.
I drive either and older international or a volvo. The volvo rides nicer but the international I have is a retired Road unit and has tons of power, like my old truck from CWF, and is a 9 speed too
American trucker I hear you on dealing with people. I hate all people and idiots, one delivery I had friday the guy was freaking out on me that something he ordered wasnt there, but the other two were. Since we dont have road drivers from my terminal any more I have no choice but to do P/D. My shop steward told me there a possibilyt once the economy picks back up we will bring road drivers back, and if I can Im grabbing one bidThe Challenger and American-Trucker Thank this.
