AT- I used to work 12 hr night shifts and when it came to my day off - I would sleep a few hours so I could enjoy the day (at a cost as it will catch up to you eventually!) but well worth it to have those days!!! It was harder though going back (like for you when you go back Monday night) you get back on that ''day'' schedule and then on your ''day'' back (night) you are up all day and night.

I would rather have boring to be home in my own bed every day!

its a little boreing but i get to go home after :biggrin_25525: As soon as their is an opening i can move up to days. We might be hireing a few more drivers for nights as we dont have enough drivers to cover all the runs at the moment.

I prefer to work nights. The main thing is trying to get to bed the same time every day, which is hard to do if you are not on an assigned route. I would be home anywhere from 5 am to noon, then back at 10:30 pm. It was tough resting like that.

What I did is I lived on a night schedule 7 days a week. I turn off all phones and dare anyone to bother me during the day. I had all evening and most of the night free on my days off. It's different, but I am just a night person. People finally realized how I sleep, and I was not bothered anymore.

When I teamed last, I always worked 7pm to 7am, which I wanted. Never changed the schedule. Sometimes the night guy drove more, sometimes the day guy did. It all evened out in the end, and both stayed on a regular sleep schedule.

Had a busy weekend, took my boat out with some freinds on sunday (1st time of the year) boat was running great even started right up (after i put yet another new battery in it) then we decided to go to T Bones (resturant on the Lake) and go to The Drunken Parrot (Bar inside T Bones) and Watch the band they had playing. Then I clipped a rock with my nice new stainless prop right in front of the docks :biggrin_25510: great place for a rock!

Then we come back out 2 hours later and the Bildge and the ski storage area (under the floor) was FULL of water, i turned the boat and bildge pump on got outta the way as their was a LINE of boats waiting for an open dock so they could park n go inside the resturant. After i got maybe 20 feet away i stoped to open the sun deck and see why i had so much water inside, when i opened it all i could see was water it was like a fire hose spraying water all over the motor right ON the alternator :biggrin_25524:, and a bildge pump cant pump out water Nearly as fast as it was comeing in, so we just hammered down back to my truck before we sank it :biggrin_25523:

Once i got it out i could see i bent 1 of the blades on the prop (no biggie i'll just have it rebuilt only $75) but i still dont know where the water was comeing in so next weekend i'll run it on the hose and find/fix the problem or i might just put it for sale and save the work and just go to the dealer and get the new boat ive been drooling over for the last 3 years.

But it was a NICE day though, water was a little choppy, but sunny and 90* and the islands and all the Sand bars were packed (this means a good time :biggrin_25525:) this is the big sand bar on lake wylie in the pic below there were over 200 boats parked/partying here:

Anyway Monday, got to work, fueled, hooked, pre-tripped, ran my 418 mile round trip to South Hill, VA and back, worked the dock for 1-1.5 hours then went home at 6am.

That is the smart thing to do but it was tough for me to do as I wanted to enjoy my weekend off ( I worked every other weekend at that time). Also in the nicer weather I wanted to get outside on my days off. Like I said -it gets hard and catches up to you after awhile. When I did just nights I mostly did stay on the night schedule but when I went to 12hr shifts (less days a week than 8 hr shifts) I had more days off and I wanted to do stuff! Trust me- I get it AT since I am a nurse and needed the sleep, same as you, cuz would you really want a half asleep nurse sticking needles or whatnots in you when you felt like ####z? :biggrin_25523:

What happened to your bilge pump do you know? Wow you are lucky you didn't take on so much you sank-that would BITE!! and sorry about your prop....that is a PITA. Pics are great -the water looks wonderful! No way would you want to take your boat out here yet- the lake is about 50 degrees if that. They really just started to put the boats in the water about 3 weeks ago ( boating season here is ''April 15-Oct 15th for docks)
Thanks for posting your pics- I miss my boat sometimes.........
