Brilliant Joe!
Thanks a ton for sharing those pictures. I'm sure they'll help more guys than just me!
I don't have mirrors like that, so I need to be a bit creative as well. Also, do you need that extra support brace even though the vehicle is stationary when that's mounted? Is this a heavy unit? -
Looks like VuCube...is it cheaper?
-
The kit price is cheaper than the VuCube. I'm not sure what truck that is as I can't tell if that stiff arm is part of the truck mirror or added by the driver. They are only about 9-10 lbs or so. They get their needed power through the coax. In the northern half of the CONUS, a van trailer passing by in front of the tractor would probably cut the signal as long as it remained there.
And, you can get locals via satellite for the billing address location. Also be aware that every time you set the unit up, you will have to go through the switch test and guide download process which can take 5-8 minutes but if traffic is always disrupting the line of site during the setup process, you may never get it to boot up. -
but you cant get mlb network with dish i dont think i will never see my red sox again sigh

We did a very similar one using Ram parts and a plate. Same sort of basic idea but with a ball mount hand-nut such that the plate itself isn't up there when the truck is rolling because we were afraid of the wind buffeting it too much in some states.
It also allowed for putting the cube on either side of the truck if you had the ball part only on both mirrors.Gears Thanks this. -
The truck is a Prostar so the brace is there already. It probably wouldn't be necessary but it was there.
The unit itself is $350 and I used a box from home otherwise it would be another $150 for the box.
After the Rangers lost two W/S's in a row I have disavowed my baseball as a fad game and will soon go the way of crouqet as an Olympic sport.
The plate slices the wind on the horizontal so no Jimmy BuffettingDieselboss Thanks this. -
