You have to apply on the website. Remember They also own New Penn, Reddaway and Holand so you can apply to them as well. YRC you will work. Guy who was at our terminal transferred to stay as a road driver, although he lost his weekends, hes working a lot and is making a lot more money

Try Old Dominion. Even though I'm P/D, the linehaul guys seem to really love it there. I personally have absolutely nothing but positive things to say about OD, BUT I'm coming from Con-way freight as well so I don't know if that's saying much lol.

you do realize the extra board is only until you gain enough seniority so you can bid a run and own it, correct? and the hotel thing, while it sucks being out a couple of days, they pay for the hotel, you can always bid on a run that gets you back every day, and you will NEVER be asked to run illegal.

CT will tell you to get back on time or your fired, the hotel is a better option.

You are right, I have a friend who runs for YRCF, linehaul, and he has been laid off and had to work for other companies in the meantime. he said he wouldn't touch estes with a 10 ft pole, because of how hard they run drivers, and he worked for Conway, and he said they treat drivers the same way.

BUT, he said he would work for OD any day of the week, since they treat their drivers well and don't try and push them to run illegal...

Depending on where you go, you could be on the extraboard for years. I mean who wants to sit by the phone for years in our current economy. And nothing is set in stone, you could sit on extra board for years waiting on a gravy run, then the company realigns its operations and cuts some runs and you're back to where you started, and youve lost years and time.

Fedex just did a major change of operations as well..nothing is set in stone in the ltl world, so unless you have seniority somewhere, I wouldnt advise anyone to hold out hope.

Hahaha Im the same at YRC, there are 4 of us from my old CWF terminal... I dont know much about OD but havent heard any negative things from drivers, same with ABF. At YRC the most complaining thing is the roadway and yellow old school guys bashing on each other

Last night got my gravy run to south hill, va. Got back around 4am, and went home at 6am.

I also forgot to post that on monday when i went to south hill i brought back a Hazmat load, when the baltimore driver shows up he says "you might wanna check to make sure i put the right placards on" so i go to look at my book and the paper work to see what it needs and he comes over and says "my supervisor said it needed Flamible Liquid but that wasnt on the flips so i just put flamible gas, is that ok?"

so after beaching him out for being stupid, i walked up to the pilot and got the RIGHT ones.
