By that same token, None of the company drivers I have spoken to say they are making the amount of money that they feel that they should be..

well i waiting for a sleep study so my day to go for orientation is change now for 7/16 just need to keep in touch with Sterling Collins .
don't know yet about becoming Alliance but all info is welcome because one day I will like to run own small company and have to learn first .
I know is different for everyone but while waiting for my day to go to Stevens school for refresher i been doing some research and pm few people from different company even got the chance to talk to Corporal_Clegg and got great info from him BTW TY . -
There is only one guy left out of our class from school that we are aware of and he is getting jerked around by Alliance and Stevens. 99% of us that made it into grad fleet and have left since did so because of the low (or no) pay. Only one guy claimed to be making money in Alliance. He left because he found a g/f back home and quit to be with her.
One in our class drove for Stevens several years ago then left OTR. He said that he made good money back then. He came back and at one point went 6 weeks with no bring home pay. He actually lost his marriage because of Stevens. He knows how to play the game but he still couldnt survive. He turned his keys in the same day that I did. He is OTR with another company as a lease driver and making #### good money. Even my 5 week trainer wasnt making any money but I think that some of that was his fault.
You, Emu and the others in here claim to be making good money. Thats great and I am very happy that y'all are but I want these new guys coming in to know that it aint a bed a roses and they might be the most sucessful Alliance driver in Stevens history or they could fail and go broke just like almost every one that I have talked to. I dont know why you guys cant understand what Im saying here.
From what I am seeing, the ones that are making a decent living are the guys that have been doing it for several years. Stevens and you recruiters in here are leading the new guys to believe that they will bring home these huge paychecks when it probably aint gonna happen. -
For example all this time I thought company like :
Werner ,Swift and cr england was a great company to start .
When i was done with school in 1997 in went with Boyd bros did not last my training because of a bad scary mistake i did because my trainer was drunk and went to sleep when i need him the most .
since i did not have a family back then i did not care i did not finish even that was something i was enjoy till that night .
now company change a lot since then and is hard to find one that will not screw me . my plan is to make a year and from there decide if was good to stay or not .
But i still researching and open to suggestions if you know a better place for a Rockie let me know that way i can compare my options.
only thing i don't like so far about Steven they don't have terminals around the USA that can help in saving money but hey no big deal . -
As far as that trainer being drunk, I wouldnt worry about that at Stevens. They are very strict on safety including drugs and alcohol. Dont think that you will have to worry about that there.
One complaint that I do have with Stevens and paying the schooling back is they are misleading. They make it sound like after a year your schooling is paid in full. Thats not true. It is actually three years your school is paid in full.
Best of luck! -
To be honest, getting into trucking with already having a family is hard to do unless you have a working spouse. There is good money to be made out here, but very rarely at the beginning of a career in trucking. There are many training companies out there to choose from. All have their faults and most will probably break you at first. I would not start out in a lease. I would find a large company, because they can provide more freight to keep you moving, to knock out your first year or two. Then take your experience to a better paying job.
I started my career with a family at home. It was hard to make ends meet. I lost a couple of houses due to not being able to pay the rent. But, I stuck with it because I had to. Now, with a few years under my belt and a good clean driving record, I can go just about anywhere and bring home a decent pay check.
The moral of my story is that it is MUCH easier to go broke when starting out than it is to do well.Emulsified Thanks this.
