Chances are it's just an exhaust valve, not a real engine brake so it would be crappy enough but if you're not paying for it let them try change it!

Ive never heard that sound through straight pipes, alot of guys put straights on the v8's here, sure are loud !

i can tell you for our auto here in the best country in the world...thats not true! I had an auto lock up on me 2 weeks ago going down hill threw a 1 lane construction zone stuck in 10th gear, i had to blow threw the construction zone till i got back to 2 lanes to i could coast to the shoulder to shut the POS off to unlock the #### transmission...so if i had been heavy and going down a grade i woulda been SOL if my brakes couldnt stop me before they burnt up.... so you can keep your autos my euro friend.

I usually don't agree with..well..most of your stuff, but I have to say I agree with you. A few weeks ago a guy got stuck in 10th gear in a turn lane for a truck stop lol. What sucks is he had to pay $500 for a wrecker to literally tow him 200 feet to the TA service point. He said he's trading the truck after that load haha.

I will say it's a good thing you got control of that truck, if i ever go through a situation like that I would most likely never drive another auto.

I'm thinking its a butterfly valve on the exhaust side of the Turbo.

I didn't like my auto very much in the snow. If it started to slip, the tranny would shift up and down trying to decide what gear it wanted to be in. Putting it into manual mode solved that problem, but not without some spinning.

i donno, you tell me lol. It wouldnt downshift for nothing, even in manual mode. I had to shut the truck off, and pull the fuse for the ecu to unlock it (main fuse on the wireing harness in the battery box). came to a complete stop in 10th gear, clutch in of course
