With a good amplifier and antenna you will have a stable signal pretty well everywhere even when you are driving .

Ok another question. Will I get a good enough signal back in the bunk area or will I need to be up front?
-
Nice plug.
With the wireless amplifier you'll be good anywhere in the cab/bunk. The nice thing about the wireless ones you can talk on the cell phone or three, AND be on the computer. You aren't tied down to the hard wire into the phone etc. -
If you are using a Verizon data card like I have, you can use it in the bunk or up front. It works everywhere. I have no amplifier or special antenna - they aren't necessary at all. It works just fine without them. As noted above, once in awhile you lose signal just like a cell phone but, if you're moving, it's back very quickly. I have yet to lose signal for more than 20 mins or so MAX and that was in the middle of nowhere.

With an amplifier antenna setup you would not have lost signal for the 20 minutes and there are lots of areas you probably have not travelled yet that are signal challenged. My Brother does commercial Real Estate out of Halifax and he loves his amplifier. . He travels down to Wolfville and Lunenburg alot and he says he is always connected now.

Are you talking about using a cell phone? I'm talking about using a data card. I don't think you can put amplifiers on them, can you? -
He uses a Cell Phone and Data card and yes you can connect an amplifier to a Data Card . In your expieience to date You might stay connected but the amplifier might also be the difference from you being connected at 1xrtt speeds and EVDO speeds . Which is quite a difference for those addicted to speed , LOL

I just can't see me justifying a really pricey amplifier that I'm not 100% sure would work right now, that's all. Heck, my sirius radio is about to be junked 'cause it will not work no matter what I do (longer than 15 mins or so) and I'm getting really tired of farting around with electronics, if you know what I meanIt's hard enough keeping my Bell card working all the time. Sigh... the Verizon one is much more reliable to work every single time I use it without re-inputting a bunch of stupid data.

A direct connect amplifier setup for an EVDO card is around $200 and the same amplifier works for every Cellular carrier in North America.Don't knock it till you try it I have customers that swear by our equipment that includes The US Border Patrol , Department of Homeland Security and All the Oil Compnaies operating in or around the Athabaska Tar Sands. the only way any of them can get Cell reception up there is with our amplifiers. They have tried every other amplifier and even satellite phones and ours is the only thing that keeps them connected.
[quote=myminpins;260520]Now this is true!!! LOL But $500 for an amplifier? Seems awfully pricey to me. And I have a data card for Canada (Bell) and another for USA (Verizon). I'd need an amplifier for both?
