Float up, occasional clutch to get it out of gear going down...usually just the throttle though. Taught myself to double clutch just so I would know.
-
Dang it. Can someone explain how to float? Everyone wants me to double clutch and im alright but still have days ehere i grind the piss outta the transmission. Do i just rev up to like 1800 and then go for it?
-
Put truck in first, ease out the clutch to move. Apply two finger pressure on shifter, release pressure on throttle at around 1500 rpm. you'll feel the shifter moving like butter, catch second.rinse repeat.

Like he said around 1500rpms but they will shift smooth between 1400 and 1600rpms or my truck dose and all the other trucks I have driven did... -
only super truckers float , that and people who cant shift.
Clutch in my truck or don't drive it without a deposit for the tranny. -
blade and Onetruckpony Thank this.

Dick Trickle Thanks this.

so i take it your opposed to extended shifters as well? looks like you wouldent like me then -
Clutch only when starting from a dead stop. When coming to a complete stop just go to neutral at about 10 mph.
How do you use the Jake to slow the engine when you are using the clutch to shift? Doesnt your micro switch on the clutch pedal shut the Jake off?
I flip the 3 way switch to low for faster shifting. That does not mean FORCING your shifts, it just cuts the time it takes the engine to lose 400 RPM in half.
This will make perfect sense to the noobs in a few years.davetiow Thanks this.
