there is no comparison in the fit and finish of kw/pete compared to freightliner--the drive trains can be similar but that is where it ends--hell even the fliner mattresses suck--it all starts when you close the door--an fliner you have to take a running start to close it and it will still be loose and drafty--pete,closes with a click
nothing wrong with a freightliner,if that is what you want or like--but like the other poster said--its like comparing a yugo to a cadillac

I've driven every make just about. GMC, White, Volvo, GMC/White, Volvo/White, International 9700, 9800 and Pro Star, Mack, Kenworth cabover and conventional, Peterbuilt cabover and conventional, Freightliner cabover and conventional classic, FLD, Century, Columbia and Cascadia.

BY far Freightliner from the Century on has built the best trucks. The trucks seal so good you can feel it in your ears if you slam the door without having a window cracked. They have a smooth ride. If equipped with air ride front suspension it's like driving on a cloud. Most of them now have rack and pinion instead of the old steering box great turning radius.

The FLD just like the older KW T600 and W900 were bad for wind cutting through the doors and sleepers.

The new Pete's and KW's have the dash so high it's hard to see over it and I'm 5' 9". Most of the older style KW's you can't just stand up in the drivers seat because of the low roofs. And the seats are just a little over 12" apart. The steering wheel is like a desk top. It comes up from the floor which means it's like an old model A.

Volvo's and Mack's have the least amount of room and the worst ride hardest truck to back into a tight spot. They have the worst turning radius I've ever seen.

The new Internationals with that big window in the sleepers do nothing to keep cold air out. Air comes through the doors worse than any truck I've driven. You can see the doors move when a strong gust hits them going down the road. I have to use earplugs when the wind is bad because of the noise. The wipers will not just skip but they don't even touch the windshield in a bad rain storm with high winds.

Most of the trash talk is from the same people that are always repeating stuff, so they sound like their heroes.

Come on, tell the truth. You have never driven a Volvo have ya? My Volvo turns tighter than my Ford dually pickup truck. It certainly has way more room than anything Peterbilt or Kenworth ever built. I have zero trouble backing any trailer with my Volvo. I cant think of an easier truck to back than a Volvo, you dont even have stacks in the way lol geeze...

The worst ride? Again, my Volvo rides smoother than my Ford dually pickup. Yeah, I just hate that air ride front suspension. Its actually comparable to a half ton pickup in ride quality.

Really, Volvo's have the least amount of room? Compared to entering the cave of a Pete? LOL thats not even remotely true. I am 6'4" tall, I can swing a leg over the drivers seat and stand straight up and not bump my head. My truck is only a midroof. The only truck cab/sleeper wider than a Volvo is an International. I could jump rope inside my truck. In a Pete or KW you gotta turn sideways just to move past the seats.

Come on now, if youre gonna make up stuff. At least make up stuff thats half way believable.

A Volvo pretty much is what it is. A pete comes in a lot of different configurations. It's not apples to oranges.

You what to talk drive train, or fit and finish? Drive train chose your engine and transmission put it in any truck new and it's all the same.

Fit and finish? Well that's where the money is.

Resale? Don't buy Jimmy, everyone will consider it a fleet truck even if it's been properly maintained.

If your going to buy a used jimmy be prepared to do an inframe immediately.

They're not that bad, I drive a pete you can see light through, and it not been wrecked.

A well mantianed jimmy is a great tuck, but it's like searching for a needle in a stack of needles.

I think the Cascadia is ok. I didn't like the Columbia, though. I really don't like Volvos

You Freightliner lovers are still avoiding the issue of sending American dollars to Mexico and Germany when buying DAIMLER products . You protest Mexican truckers taking a very small percentage of American freight then support a corporation that has put thousands of Americans out of work and has ruined communities by closing plants .

but it's like searching for a needle in a stack of needles.

wouldn't that make it easy to find? Unless you were looking for a particular needle...lol
