You know I hear that lazy crud alot. Ever thought maybe they make what they require inside the HOS? Perhaps charging more for your services would help?

And no I do not need my hand held. However seeing the carnage caused by people in trucks and later finding out how far out of compliance they were shows me many do.

eLogs are not your problem bad load planning is your problem. For to many years people have been running loads getting little sleep and killing people when they SHOULD have stopped but didn't. This industry has brought it on themselves.

I had a delivery last week I got there at 2030 with 30 minutes to drive. They told me I had to leave because they didn't allow over night parking even tho they had a big gravel lot that was empty. So I drove to the truckstop called up and said I would be late. When asked why I told dispatch why and then showed up 5 hours late. Now if I was on paper I would have been expected to be on-time anyway. EVEN if it was illegal! That is why I like elogs because it covers my butt during times like that.

Now here we go! You're after touching on a subject that would cure all! If o/o and small hauliers would stick together and keep rates up rather than cut each others throats there would be no need run around the clock thus none of these elogs, great answer, worthy of a thread of it's own, it can be debated here but it's also a great subject!

Yes and this is why you guys will end up like us, stupid dispatchers and greedy bosses, it's drawing this elog crap on and drivers will be the biggest losers!

Elogs are horrible. No the solution to any problems. If fmcsa was so Worried about safety they would mandate tr industry to no longer pay us by the mile(more u drive the more u make.) hourly or even salary for x days spent out on tr road. (company drivers) you owner ops, sorry I do not have a plan for y'all. Lol. Only reason to cheat after being paid hourly or salary would be trying to get to the house.( which for us Otr idiots is only once or twice a month. P.s. when one of the computer geeks here figure how to hack elog, plz pm me.

That's definately a start! It's hourly or daily here too not by the mile , By the mile if I understand what you're thinking pushes drivers on when they're tired??

You gotta be kidding! This industry is nothing like it was 30 years ago and I'm dang glad of it. It was romantic, but it wasn't reality. We were killing ourselves, left and right, trying to live that fantasy.
