Got my conformation or offer from SNI today so now I can really decide . I got to say that Im leaning towards SNI over LS . I spoke with a friend of mine who put me in touch with a freind of his .. lol that runs the choice board and he has been ale to get roughly 1.65-1.75 on ALL MILES and a avg of 0.20 discount on fuel said hes seen it as low as 0.10 and high as 0.31 thats a pretty good discount .
Most he says dont like the EOBR LOGS ( paperless) but Id be ok with that
SNI seems to give a pretty decent value for your lease , but im still holdin out for a minute

I think you should get your own authority and trailer. you can do much better. Here is a glimpse of the last few loads I did with the brokerage side of these two companies:
SNI: OH to NYC $3/mile
LS: NE to OH $1.9/mile
LS: IN to IL $5.5/mile
SNI: IL to IL $3.3/mile
LS: OH to KY $6/mile
LS: OH to KY $5.8/mile
SNI: IA to MI $2.3/mile
SNI: MI to NY $3/mile
LS: TN to AZ $2.8/mile
obviously some are short haul, some are long. I don't believe in dedicating my operation to a single company or two. You have to keep your options open, there is plenty of good paying freight out there! You just have to keep a excellent and reliable record. Many of our loads we get calls on before they hit the loadboardsMannie602, Crazy D, rollin coal and 2 others Thank this. -
Well Schneider ( SNI ) won the bidding war for my services ( not a bidding war but that sounded cool )
When I laid it all out .. Everything was a plus on the SNI side to me . LS had its plus points too but after I spoke to a few guys that left LS for SNI choice program it became noticeably seen that SNI just had a better over all value for the lease between the 2 companies
that is no disrespect towards LS .SHC Thanks this. -
Look at the majority of the trucks leased to ls pulling vans, they are junk. That should tell you alot.
SHC and BigBadBill Thank this. -

Do yourself a HUGE favor. Get the money to buy your own trailer. Then invest in your own authority. 1.60 a mile is fuel money. You need to be up closer to 2.00 a mile for all miles. Is there more paperwork? Yes. But in the end you would be better off running off of a load board than you are working with cheap thieves like LS or SNI. Remember even with your .10 fuel discount they are MAKING money off of you. There are just so many things here to say I can't even begin to list them. With the cost of authority IMO people are insane to lease on with someone. You are nothing more than a glorified comapny driver at that point. Because when you turn down a load that just plain stinks, lets see how fast you get to where you want to go after that.

SNI has a load board. When i was with sni , i made descent money. I was averaging 1.50 hub miles. Believe it or not its not bad. You have to work smarter not harder , and learn not to chase the freight on the choice program. -
Well CrazyD, I have heard from at least 50 drivers here at LS, that used to run their own authority, that LS is about as close as you can get to running your own authority w/o actually doing it. That being said, if you operate here as if you WERE running our own authority, then up can do just as well and go far. I've only been here at LS for going on 5 months but I've already made as much $ in those 5 months as I did all of last year with My last job. I really enjoy it, I like getting paid weekly for my loads and not having to Net30 customers and also hope a brokers bond is good cuz I didn't get paid. It's just a personal preference and view, but from my situation I see no reason to be under my own authority. I don't have to worry about audits, insurance, paperwork in top of paperwork, and makkg sure my freight bills are getting paid. Plus I like the fact of having a major corp in my corner if something was to go wrong and one that is based on safety 1st and foremost.
But that's just me. Your point is valid too as the way you see things and there is nothing wrong with that at all. Just wish everyone could be as happy as you and Ilarry2903, gerardo1961 and BigBadBill Thank this. -
Good point SHC! I used to have my own authority and i did fairly well. I put my truck on with sni , because i am in the military. Being in the military part time and trying finding loads full time, did not mix. Sni choice program was perfect for my truck operation. I can run my truck when and where i want. I found out the hard way, that running your own authority is a full time job. Sni choice program cut down on my work load a lot. i will be deployed in 30 days, and when i get back i will go back to sni
larry2903 Thanks this.
