On my way!

I'm doing it! I'm on the phone (on hold actually) with Prime right now! Why am I so nervous?

Yay! No "residency" requirement for Prime. Also, even though Illinois is a "nuisance state" in which you have to take your road test in Illinois, in order to have an Il. CDL, Prime has a way around that as well--they just take you over the boarder into East St Louis Il for the road test portion--so I'd be good to go!

I have to be at work at 1400, so once I get there and get settled in, since I do have internet access there, I'll go ahead and fill out the application and the woman I talked to gave me her extension number and will be there tomorrow as well, so I can call her back once the app is completed!

According to their website, this is what it would take, for me to reach the point ("A seat") of driving solo:

Highlight is more than I make full time at my current job...And the 30k miles of team training shouldn't take more than a couple months as I'm estimating, based on a probable average of 2k per week.

I'm struggling with trying not to get excited, despite all the exclamation points I've used, because as I've been learning (slowly) I never know what's around the next corner...

 

Ok, online application is done, and so tomorrow I have to call the woman I spoke with back and see what happens next! Who knows, I might get this going before the next obstacle in the never ending series of obstacles that is WIA occurs!

 

This bothers me though:

At 6 months, that would come to $4800.00, and at $25.00/wk, it would take 4 years to pay off!

I don't really think I'd need 2 bills a week, but I'm wondering if this part of their program is "all or nothing" or if I can just request it on an "as needed" basis...On second thought, I might need it after all, as HTF would I be covering my rent ($400.00/mo) back home without it? Seriously, how can they expect someone to go for 6 months, with no "income"? And why does it take 4-6 months? (especially considering it's supposedly "one-on-one" training) The TDS here is only 6 weeks!

 

Yeah, I just realised that...Whew!

 

Yeah, that probably has to do with the "road test" stipulation I mentioned above...After all, we have the best government money can buy!

 

According to their site, it's the *greater* of .12cpm or $600 per week, so I don't know. Even assuming that it's before tax earnings, that $600 is still more than I'd be making, if I were getting full time hours with my current employer...

 

Alrighty! The lady I spoke with is going to start processing me on Monday when those people get in and will call me back on Tuesday.

In the mean time, as so many of you indicated, that two year old speeding ticket (civilian, not CDL) is being somewhat of a thorn. I have to call the courthouse on Monday to look up the ticket so as to discern the exact speed on the ticket. (it is on my MVR as "15-25 over")

As long as it wasn't actually over 20, I should be good to go.

Barring any problem with that, I could be starting orientation on the 19th!
