Misunderstandings??? I didn't see that. A simple thread from a guy whose wife drives for Prime, and thinks it's a great company. Right?

Trucking is a jock........

I drove for Heyl Trucking back in 1993/94 for ten months. Made lots of miles, and got back home to SD pretty regular. Had a couple issues with one dispatcher, but nothing that caused permanent hard feelings. My main issues and the reason I left had to do with "reefer stuff". Gate and dock fees, lumpers, etc. Even thought the company paid them I just didn't like paying them. Food warehouses. And Heyl's trailers say "partners across the border" for a reason. You better like Canada. But all in all my issues where not with Heyl. They where with reefer. So I went back to flatbedding. I think, unless they have changed a lot since then, that Heyl would be great for a good driver who likes reefer.

It is? What's the misunderstanding about driving flatbeds in the SD oil fields? -
Almost. There was also something about running the truck out of fuel all the time because the dispatcher won't allow any kind of stops.
There was mention about the truck not stopping when it should. The tires must be getting fouled up from the oil and the prejudiced dispatcher doesn't understand and is crude. -
worked for heyl twice for 2 1/2 years total. would still be with them but they don't have a terminal where i wanted to live. good company , decent pay, good equipment. just cus its texas regional dosn't mean anything. you have to go where the freight goes , or sit sit sit and wait for your texas load. anydriver who goes regional with a 48 state +can carrier has to accept this unfortunate reality.

I like this thread because Donna wanted to bad mouth a good carrier but there has been many more positive posts. Heyl is a good company, one of few in our industry and I'm glad drivers reading this thread will find that out, thanks Donna!
vmaggs Thanks this. -
Yea but even if they are a great company, they haul refers. And unless they do lots of d/h who in their right mind would want to be treated like cattle and stand in line to check in and get lumper's wait 2 hrs after your mty to get your bills? And now it's 0100 and you have no hrs to drive or anyplace to park.
It's not just the company you have to look at but who they pu and del to and refer trucks go to some of the rudest shprs and receivers around.
