Ran into a driver last weekend in TX that had a 73 K100 COE with a brand new driveline. It had a 6NZ with PDI equipment and a 13spd with a brand new air ride system. He said he had $30k in the drivetrain, $10k in the paint and body work, another $5k in wiring and interior and has owned te truck since 1987. I'd say that's $45k was well spent ;)

I see some of these gorgeous old gals from time to time. Nostalgic, pretty, probably pull like a mother, smaller than living in "the hole" at Leavenworth - but moneymakers nonetheless.

As you can see by the Avatar, I don't even have a hood. As far as fuel mileage, 7 mpg for the history of the truck - 1.35 million miles. Series 60 Detroit 500HP 13 speed 3.58 rears. All types of trailers/weights in a power only operation.
If you really like a long nose, buy it. You are going to take a hit on fuel cost depending on what you are hauling, compared to a more aero design. They never have tripped my trigger, but been driving cabovers for 35 years, my buddy says my brain is addled.

Mack Pinnacle I drive one almost every night a 2012 with the 505 HP MP8 and a eaton 10spd. This is in the oilfield hauling water going down roads that would make most road drivers quit in a few days. It has more power and is smoother than any engine I have ever driven. The company I work for also has a few pete 389&388 with both ISX 500hp and C-15 475hp this thing will out pull them and rides almost as good. So overall it rides great handles great has a awsome traction control system you have to really try to get stuck in this thing. I am not a fan of the dash not easy to reach for me but thats nit picking it is well built truck no rattles. MPG 5.2 thats awsome most of the trucks get around 4 MPG at best it also seems to use less DEF than the ISX motors. This is with about 50% idle with the pto on and the pump screaming.
Our shift change looks like a NASCAR pit stop the trucks get shutoff and the fluids get checked, tires are plugged or changed minor problems are quickfixed and the truck is back to work. The Mack I drive has been in service for less than 6 months and has 80,000 on it with no engine problems. The oilfield is about 80% Mack CH,Granites,Pinnacle 10% Kenworth t-800 10% mixed Western Star,Volvo,Pete,We have one 9900 international the only one I have ever seen in the oilfield, One of our O/O tried a freightliner it fell apart in a matter of weeks.
I would say a Pinnacle with a mid roof sleeper would make a fine road truck that would last for years and get great MPG.
