Ooh a very smart argument ! You are right of course, my problem is guys who get involved in an accident and end up in awful trouble and only literally minutes out of time, here there is no distinction , 1 minute 24 hours no difference, there needs to be human distinction at some level, of course I'm on for safety but this digital tracking is really not the way!

I'm not opposed to it, if used properly it really can help to identify unsafe drivers. However eLogs are only a tool, if the company isn't willing to change it's like giving my 4 year old a screwdriver. He'll use it, but only to take things apart, and then he'll forget where the screws came from, and really how did he reach that screw on the TV, #### it Melissa why weren't you watching him, the g/d tv is broken and now I can't find the screw.

Absoloutley ! Thing is they are too rigidly enforced, the human element and understanding is lost, that's my biggest problem, law enforcement only seems to see black and White nowadays , it's illegal now to make a mistake! accidents happen!( lost my only brother to one ) some I know are preventable but when you impede on the civil liberties of everybody to prevent a few accidents I don't think life is not worth living in the first place!

    define an unsafe driver.

how does a box make a driver safer????

the box doeson't make a driver safer. only the driver makes himself safer. and it's really not the driver that makes the safety. it's the equipment he uses that makes safety. all the driver does. is drive.

the box however does make a driver unsafe. in the fact that the box can't keep a driver awake when he has to drive 11 hours. and the box most certainly can't make a driver sleep for 10 hours.

put yourself on a flatbed. it's the beginning of the shift. start by untarping 2 X 50 lb. tarps. rolling them up. take off your straps and unload. i'm ready for a nap already. but we proceed down the road for the next load. and sometimes that next load is a journey. but you pick up your next load. and have to tarp it again. now we're 6 hours into our shift and ready to truck. 5 more hours i have to drive. TIRED AS ALL GET OUT.

yep, i'm a safe driver becuase i'm following the govt guidelines.

and here's an added bonus. you've been working in the heat. 115 DEGREES.

sorry, but i'm safer doing it my way then the box will ever make me. i also won't end up upside down on the side of the highway like all these other qualcomm users are doing.

i'm not forced to make my body do what the govt wants it to do. i sleep when i'm tired. i drive when i';m awake. i don't have my dispatcher waking me up in my sleep. i don't sit on property becuase i'm out of hours. i can drive when i need to find a place to park and everything is full. i can make my deliveries and pickups and don't have to worry about traffic jams using up my hours.

all that box is gonna do is give more jobs becuase none of us will have the hours to drive anymore. which means even less available parking. more jobs means even more rookies out on the road. and more upside down trucks on the highway. and more unsafe trucks.

our job is unsafe becuase the veterans are quitting due to govt regulations. so the rookies come out from all corners of the country to take there place. most of them don't even make it past the first year.

our jobs are unsafe becuase most of the drivers have less then 1 year experiance. at any given time of the year. any given year of the century.

drivers are unsafe becuase they lack experience. and no box in the world can help them. only thing the box does is forces them to work like machines. on govt mandated rules. and makes them work for unemployment wages becuase they use up there hours on duty at the docks.

EOBR's promote safety only if the data stored is used . Ever notice the carriers that are pushing for EOBR's and are currently using them are the ones whose trucks are speeding in construction zones and anywhere else the speed limit is under 65 m.p.h. ? EOBR's would for instance show the trucks running 65 m.p.h. in MI where the speed limit for trucks is 60 m.p.h. . Carriers pick and choose what info they want to use .

Nice to know drivers are not capable nor responsible for safety:biggrin_2552:

Might be the single stupidest statement I have ever read on here.

Complete and utter Bravo Sierra. The box, nor the HOS make you drive when you are tired.
This whole arguement is based on only one thing, you are trying to make excuses to cheat and run illegal.
That my little friend, is the bottom line.

    That's just peachy!
Brave new world.......have big brother with you in bed 24/7 and nicely request lotion or crunchy penut butter to aether avoid dryness or enhance the experience.
I know, the visualization is grossly disgusting, but just as stupid as the thinking that if you get more government involvement, giving them more power and control over your life, then your life is going to improve in any way.
One thing that human kind proved over and over again through history, is the fact that humans can't handle power at all without getting abusive and completely corrupt.

Anyone that thinks that freedom and liberty is overrated and needs to be replaced with tyranny needs to get their heads examined.

The irony in all this is that as we get ready to celebrate Independence Day here in America we're arguing how great is the idea of relinquishing more power to the government and how great we're gonna live under the ever icreasingly oppressive boot of big government and the watchful eye of big brother.

Good Lord! We never learn anything, do we?

We have these contraptions here for years, do they do anything for safety? Nope, what they do is put 30% more trucks on the road and shrink rates, don't take it from me bit I've been living with these for years!
