I'm an O/O on the choice program. I think it's great. Closest you can get to driving under your own authority without actually having it. Feel free to ask any questions you have.

How does medical insurance work in your situation? Is there any? Can you get it through Schneider as an O/O?

Average rates - average gross to the truck per week - good lanes -

I know that those things are controlled by you but just wondering if a guy can gross 3000-3500 in 5 days and still do ok with the choice program

Choice was one of my options before joining ACT. I do like the fact that you choose you're own freight and maximize you're time and earnings. I'm doing ok here, but I do like the idea of not dealing with dispatchers and planners.

Yes there is insurance available that you have to pay for if you want coverage. They take it out of your pay settlement each week I believe. I'm not using it since coverage through my wife's employer is better and more affordable. But from what I saw its an ok plan at an ok price depending on which package you choose.

Well with the economy the way it is rates aren't as great as the once were but I'd say on average 1.3 thru 1.6 per mile for the area I run. But choice is a percentage of freight not per mile so that is just an average when including the deadhead I run. North east seems to have better rates of course but I stay in the midwest and southwest a lot. Is it possible to gross 3k in 5 days? Yes but you have to know what you're doing and plan your trips ahead. Proper routing, trip planning, etc. and know your limits both in what you will accept in pay and what you are capable of. It's all about running smarter not harder or even necessarily further.
After all expenses I make a bit more than top pay company driver rate per mile but that is by choice. My truck is paid off and the wife works too so I usually go home and spend the week end with her every week. And that is another reason I enjoy being on choice the ability and freedom to do that if and when I want or the ability to run 3200 miles in a week. (what I did this week)

Zangief, US MARINE and jamesd503 Thank this.
