    Another thing that kills pneumatic drivers...at least ones that haul food grade loads....is washing out, too. I've sat for hours at a wash out, in line, waiting for my turn. Combine that with the load/unload time, if you are logged in on a E-Log, there goes your 14.

    And I agree, you should not be able to be kept for hours on end at a shipper or receiver and not be compensated for it. If it's going to eat into your 14 hour clock, then you should be collecting something. But that's an entire different topic lol.....

    I'm sure E-Logs are eventually going to be mandatory for all trucks. There's way too much control by government in society nowadays, anyhow. They want to regulate every darn thing in our every day lives. And society just sets back and lets them...If they could, they'd have robots driving the big trucks. Guess in some ways they do already.

    fools any of us may be. The industry isn't getting better. I might not be very bright but i think i had to take a 34 off without pay on paper logs too and i believe i was living in the truck on paper logs too. Don't join the debating society they don't allow you to go offf topic with extraneous issues.

    So far he has been lucky on not having to wait a long time for a washout on the trailer, but the added miles to get to one that the dspatcher does count in road miles add up.

    been on paper logs for almost 35 years 34 was not around, recap was and no never lived in truck, out couple days back home.

    well you don't have to rub it in!! Actually,and you may not have been sarcastic (but if you were that's cool 'cause I am from time to time and ilove it) I have probably forgotten lots over the years simply from being a part of when trucking was a bit different.

    Okay. no probably to it.wheww will sum it up regarding my early days driving.thanks for confirming what i have always suspected-I am getting oldddd and you put it pleasantly!

    didn't realize i was that obvious! i do try and use a little tact from time to time if applicable. Logan76,truth is i will be out of it if/when all the junk is mandated.I view all that is being reviewed,mandated,and implemented as economy cripplers and honestly feel as if that is what they are trying to do by implementing all the monitoring stuff.

    revenue and not safety is what it all boils down to for the most part imho.

    Sadly I will still be driving when E-logs are mandatory but my company has a couple of daycab's and I could handle loading and unloading flatbeds all day.

    well i dont miss not having power steering or sleeping over the steering wheel for 2 hours
    or overloads because the ticket was cheaper then a second truck
    or 4 nights in a row running from north carolina to fulton fish market
    or a 10 wheel dump with a quad box
    IT WASN'T ALL BETTER BACK IN DA DAY
