For Those Who Went From Paper Logs to Electronic

I wasn't being sarcastic at all, just wish we had all the experience is all. My father in-law was into commercial refrigeration, wish my kids had all his knowledge to tap into, son never was worth a darn in school but he is a genius with electrical anythings.

The one bad thing nowdays is the restricted roads in a lot of towns which can change in a weeks time. I am always pulling the atlas out too to check the restricted roads in whichever state it is. I hate NJ and NY as far as going on 95 and the roads branching off it. Of course IL is getting a lot of areas that are restricted also.

 

What is going to be bad if I read the new HOS correctly is the not being able to take a 34. then run a couple of days and take another 34 because your shipper doesn't have a load, then run again for a few days. If I read it right you will have to take a 34 the same day of the week always.

 

I didn't think it was the same day of the week, but limited to one per week. I haven't needed a 34 reset in over a year so I'm not up on it like I should be.

 

are you actually saying you take weekends off so you reset every week?

 

I think it is only one a week but it looks like it would have to be around the same time frame each week to be legal, they are afraid you are going to accumalate too many hours running I guess somehow. I see truckstops all loaded on the weekends, all the exit ramps etc because of it. And don't forget the 2 time periods off from 1am to 5am (home terminal time) that have to be included on the reset.

 

But it looks like they are trying to take that window away, I hope not.

 

Yeah. I should have worded that better to say I don't take a 34hr during the week...........

 

oh man i started my carreer six years ago on paper ....remember my trainer saying i will teach you how to log legal and how to make money ....ala first thing take those #### staples outa your log book .....then bought my first truck and leased it onto an expedited company with elogs what an oxymoron just saying ......
most relaxing moment in my life when i returned that qualcom unit to that cat company never was so stressed then when i ran elogs but that might have been in just that application as far as not looking up where i was at i got a gps for that just sayin
