So everytime you see a truck pulled over or someone in a accident your going to automatically assume it's because of elogs? Just give it a rest man. Their not this satanic thing you believe them to be. It's really not that serious....

I went from paper, to elog, and then back to paper.
Money wise it's a little less on the elog. If you can't make money in 70 hours there's something wrong.
Stress wise paper is the way to go.
Lets be honest we've, all fudged our log book a little to get to a good parking spot, or jumped the log to get ahead of the traffic. Or parked 5 mile from the customer and didn't log it.
I'm not talking about anything outrageous or unsafe but paper does give you a little flexibility.
On an elog sometimes you have to drive like a maniac to get to a safe place to park because that extra hour you figured into your trip plan turned into 3 hour due to an accident.
If I'm ever forced back into elogs I'll go back to LTL.x#1 and MiFamilyGuy Thank this. -
I had the Hershey squirts last night. And you know what? It was because of them dam Elogs.
anj8488 Thanks this. -
i'll give it a rest when you all stop turning your trucks upside down. flipping them over on exit ramps. and slamming your trailers into the drivers seat.
12 years ago the only accidents were snow related. today, all kindsa crazy crap is happening.
back in the 1800's. we had white people ruling over the black people. SLAVERY.
today, we have truck drivers being ruled by a box. the govt, and there companies.
slavery was abolished back when lincoln was president. -
"12 years ago the only accidents were snow related"? Driver, I hate to tell you, but your dope has gone bad, or you bought some bad stuff!
-
Hang on. Slaves didn't choose to be slaves. My company pays me to drive their truck their way. I am free to leave if I don't like it.
-
Right after your done with your indentured servitude contract if your a new driver. -
So the only accidents are elog related? Show me some crash reports that are elog related. Not just your paranoid assumption. -
Elogs force trip planning, no more fudging.
Accidents happen today, the same accidents happened yesterday, and 10 years ago. They will happen tomorrow. Elogs have nothing to do with that.
Driver error has everything to do with accidents.
Snowwy your arguing bs with no facts, just your hatred of new technology. -
I've drove with paper logs and elogs. The biggest problem I have with E logs is that the Log department has the ability to change my logs . They should NEVER have that ability. With Paper logs the FMCS regualations clearly state that all logs are to be in the drivers own handwriting. But, allowing some one else to change your logs I feel this is a violation of current laws. How could a person be held accountable for a document, that could and does get changed by a person other then the one who did that document. Lets supposed the driver is involved in an fatality accident. The Police/ DOT determine the driver shouldn't have been there due to excess hours proven by fuel receipts, toll receipts. ect.. The company he/she works for has changed his/her elog mutliple times in the past to cover "Hot" loads. Who is responsible?
I feel that any elog mandate should also include fines and prison time for anyone who changes a elog plus company executives. Maybe there should some type of "clearing" house, not controlled by the carriers, that all elogs get sent to which in turn audits the logs and sends a summary to the carriers. Thus the carriers only get a summary with no way of changing anything.LaBubba Thanks this.
