@Roadmedic Thanks for the help. I looked a little bit harder and found their trial link. Going to wait to see what my new company will be using before I commit to any program.

 

Anyone had any success with any Android apps for log books? I was thinking about EZLogit or Driver's Daily Log, but OTR Log Book also looks promising, at least from the video. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

 

If you do decide to go with DDL, get the full version. It has a number of things the lite version does not.
Download the customer database as well. very good tool.

I have been using DDL for a while and find the full version to be a valuable tool, even as a company driver.

 

When I look at DDL's home page I see the following sentence (about 1/3 of the way down the page):

Eclipse ports are in process now. Statistically speaking, the market (i.e. truck drivers) are using Windows, Android, iOS, and then OSX in that order. So you can expect to see the next available version to be Android-based soon.

 

On edit. (I just realized something) The program I use is called Drivers Daily Log. I am not sure it is the same as the DDL program everybody else has been discussing. Matter of fact I am pretty sure they are two totally different programs. The guys name is Kurt Clark who owns the program I use.

Im not using android but apple. Here is my experience.

im using the DDL on my IPAD, it's very reasonably priced. The cost is $9.99 for 365 days of log book pages. Nothing else to purchase and they even include about ten days worth of free pages to try out. It's worked flawlessly for me, way easier than loose leaf even. I have found zero snags in the program so far. Prints super easy.

I was actually very and I mean VERY apprehensive about using this product to begin with simply because their website looks like a bunch of messy marvin kindergarten kids laid it out. I mean come on, clean your #### website up at least once every ten years or so? How unprofessional looking can you get. Navigating that web site alone turned me totally off to their product. This is 2012 nobody builds websites with rows and columns anymore.

But, on the word of a friend I tried the program. Downloaded the trial version for free from Apples App Store. Took me a few days to get the "gist" of it, but it's been a valued tool ever since.

About the only thing I have trouble with; let's say you went from line 3 driving, down to line 4 to fuel for 15 minutes. Now you decide to go on line 1 for 15 minutes before going back to line 3 driving. It's hard to get the lines to go in only 15 minute increments. It might simply be my fat fingers, but I wish there was a way you could get the program to "lock" onto that time of day and stay there. Otherwise it can keep jumping to the other duty status lines, and times. The problem only occurs when you are in "tight quarters" working in 15 minute increments. A minor annoyance I can live with.

There are no modules to install, and no printer modules to install or hassle with. Since it works with an Apple product and Apple Airprint, Apple is very strict about this IT JUST WORKS. install use and forget about it. 20 second install and another 5 minutes to enter your personnel data and you're ready to go.

 

trucklogger is $60. comes with a 60 day trial. and also does finances

one guy tried it and said it was a learning curve for his drivers.

i think it's easier to learn. and is much cleaner to look at.

 

Im from the old scool way of doing things and i guess my question is which one will offer the the opertunity to expermint with thats days run to crunch the numbers and still be legal...

 

Trucklogger will let you, I still use it for that.
