Moreso, I would look for a spot that was easy to get OUT of. Nothing worse than waking up in the morning and not being able to move because you are somehow blocked in.
Why do drivers circle the parking lot?

I circle the lot all the time, because I want to find the best spot to get a good night sleep.
I don't want to park next a loud reefer or a guy with loud engine fan kicking on and off. Also prefer not to park very much out of level.
Kinda like sitting up camp.
Getting a good night sleep can make all the difference the next day.
Also I prefer not to park, where it's not gona make real hard for the next guy to get out and then take out my front end.
Seems as if loud trucks want to park next to the guy with his windows down.
There is a lot to be said about finding a good parking spot, especially if your going to be there very long.CAXPT Thanks this. -
They get PAID by the MILE

I circle the lot because my shaker likes a nice tamped down asphalt lot to sleep in.
...err, no. Wait. That's my dog! LOL!CAXPT, chompi, DragonTamerBrat and 2 others Thank this. -
I think Ironpony is right! You always see the deer or dogs do it. They circle around to tamp down the grass so they have a nice comfortable spot to sleep. Like I.pony said I think that's what the trucks are doing.
When you use e-logs your company still averages the speed to miles. You can still run over if your truck is governed at 68mph and your company uses 60 or so as the average. Therefore at the end of the day if you have been running nothing but straight interstate and haven't really stopped at all that day then your miles can run over and your company can give you a speeding ticket or log violation. When you stop for the day you must leave your log on driving for awhile so that it can catch up with what you did that day. You don't have to necessarily be moving though. Don't tell them though its kind of funny! -
Can't say I have heard of AveragingSpeed on ELogs
About Circling the Lot.I have never done that except to maybe get turned around and not have to Blindside
If I don't find a spot I like I just move on. -

I circle the lot so I can find just the right spot. You know the one. The one next to the truck with their windows open and not running so I can pull in next to them and make tons of noise all night long. Then they can have something to post on the "So I pulled into a quite corner of the truck-stop" thread.
TRKRSHONEY, FLATBED, ironpony and 2 others Thank this. -

I circle the parking lot to give the lizards a good look at me. They see me coming and no that they are done for the night.
