no, you dont know the in 's and out's of the trailer program. ou dont get charged for brake or tire wear for no apparent reason, its only if you dont complete the lease and turn the trailer in before completion of the lease.
and get this, it is all explained in great detail BEFORE you sign the lease, there is a separate sheet that shaws the 32d's of tires and the 32d's of brake shoes when you get the trailer. the lease payment includes 100 dollars a month escrow , the escrow is used for 2 things ,either it pays off the remainder owed at the end of the lease or if turned in before the lease is over a deduction will be made for tire wear and brake wear measured in 32d's.
but again that is fully explained up front , and then a document is signed by both parties.
mercer's trailer lease is not a rental type deal , or a lease to just use the trailer, it is better described as a lease to own deal, if you lease a new trl make 60 payments and the trailer is yours, lease a used trailer make the remaining payments and the trailer is yours. when i leased on , i leased a trl with 28 payments left on it, it had new tires and brakes when i leased it. i got 9 payments left on it and it s mine.
you also get inspections every 6 months at mercer, so the trailer will be kept in good shape.

Mercer is a good company to lease to. I am leased to Fikes Truck Line and they have, on occasion, trailers to lease. You may want to give them a call at 800-863-4537. However, if you have very good credit, you can buy a new Utility flatbed through GE Capital. You get a five year warranty with the trailer, which is very nice.

here are some pictures of the new headache rack
I have a 715 credit score but the first truck i was going to buy i was going to finance and kept getting the run around dispite having almost the entire purchase price of the origional truck in my bank account great income and a good credit score. seems like the banks dont want anything to do with semi's. so i just decided to go the cash route. Im kinda glad i think im starting out in a lot better position this way. I'm not totally opposed to buying a trailer on a loan but would rather avoid it.The Challenger Thanks this. -

Hey EZ, look into Jones Motor Group, they have some nice paying freight from what I hear.

being from ND, i would highly suggest trying to get on with a company in your area. They already have all the outbound freight locked up, and there is 0 coming out till you get to Minneapolis. LS and Mercer would not be a good choice unless you wanted to go out for a few weeks and then head back.

I'm pretty much figuring on deadheading out of the state every time, unfortunately. most freight however coming into the state pays good that will help offset the cost of deadheading out. I also kinda want to avoid company's that deal strictly in oilfield as i want the availability of other freight as well threw the ups and downs of the oilfield. there is a lot of options. it seems like between researching each option talking with the company's ect ect is so frigging time consuming. a guy could probably spend 6 months trying to find a company to go to work for and still not know what the right option is. if i do purchase my own trailer though it will open up other opportunity that is currently unavailable without having my own trailer.
