There is nothing flippant about my statements in this public forum and for the benefit of truck driver communications. (However, the public can interpret them any way they choose.) My statements are very factual and can be used or held as public record, by and through, any lawyer. Werner's lack of legal and financial consideration for their driver's was an unpleasant surprise. During Werner orientation and training, proctors and instructors informed just the precise opposite of the actual circumstances that are true when you start working and driving. Many driver's go into debt to Werner. Werner grossly underpays their driver's and offers to provide paycheck advances; further placing the driver's into debt on their future paychecks. I never asked for any advance on my paychecks and never received any advances; however, there are undefined deductions on my paychecks that amount to several hundred dollars within only a few months. Werner's payroll department will not respond to my requests for an explanation of the mentioned deductions. After talking with other Werner driver's, I discovered their paychecks were also compromised without explanation. Werner provides the federal government with new hire statistics of students who have had a totally clean MVR. Because Werner is hiring people with clean MVR's and is insured to function as a "new driver company" for recent CDL-A graduates, federal allocations are received (by Werner) for claiming to support safe public truck driving in the industry. When you start driving for Werner, you will understand Werner is not actually supporting safe truck driving at all....Werner claims to support safe driving OTR. The federal government requires that Safety Dept. Managers are hired - Werner's Safety Dept. Managers are often investors in the company and will promote safety at the level of lip service to their new drivers; however, dispatchers will coerce new drivers without any consideration of safety whatsoever. It permits Werner to receive federal financial allocations at the cost of the driver. The favorable outcome of a long term legal dispute against Werner, would be that Werner loses all federal allocated income and federal tax deductions as an insured "new driver company" for recent graduates with a CDL-A. Furthermore, Werner should be required to "pay back" the federal government all fiscal allocations that were issued as endorsements for being a supposed supporter of safety driving and a new driver company. Werner coerces their truckers to drive beyond legal limits and refuses to pay their driver's when ETA's are not agreed by dispatchers. Werner's methods are considered organized crime within the terms of R.I.C.O. Unfortunately, I am not being flippant.

Everything is true. Werner should probably be closed down. Werner drivers know it and Werner customers know it. Truckers should form their own unions to protect themselves, but I think Werner is so bad that a driver's union at Werner would even be corrupt.

Werner is a shocking, yet perfect, example of organized crime within the terms of R.I.C.O. in the United States. I met a Werner driver who was of Chinese ethnicity. He said he would have expected this type of corruption in Beijing 25 years ago; but, that he did not expect it in the United States or with Werner Enterprises. The Werner drivers that I met were frequently very sick and were not allowed to go home to go to their Doctor's appointments or to get well or to see their families. Werner drivers are totally dependent on their dispatchers and/or load planners and many are homeless because of it. Werner dispatchers coerce their drivers. However, the dispatchers are a pawn in a much more organized method of business, whereas Werner investors achieve capital gains at the cost of their drivers. Werner dispatchers coerce truckers to drive illegally. Frequently, Werner truckers who try to follow the instruction of their dispatchers result in log violations (at the very least and many result in accidents) because the truckers are attempting to deliver their loads with impossible tight ETA's. The following is a corporate example of Werner's coercion and organized crime: a dispatcher schedules an assignment for a trucker to deliver a load in 10 hours; when, realistically (and without even considering road construction, night driving and accidents) the trucker could not achieve the ETA within 14 hours of straight driving at 65 mph. As a result, the trucker will not be paid for the delivery of their load because the dispatcher refused to approve necessary and needed extended ETA's; furthermore, the trucker is only federally allowed to drive 11 hours or an aggregate of 14 hours without violations. The truckers assignment and the dispatcher's intention was that the ETA would never be accomplished; as a result, Werner doesn't pay the trucker for the load delivery because it was considered late by Werner. However, the dispatcher is still paid commission (I don't know how much). Because it continually happened to me, I talked with the customer. I would ask the Werner customer what the expected ETA was for my delivery. The customer's ETA was always one or two days after my dispatcher required my delivery; therefore, Werner was still getting paid for my load delivery by the customer; however, Werner refused to pay me (the driver) because from Werner's perspective my load delivery was considered late. (But from the customer's perspective, it was considered early.) I talked to other Werner drivers on the road and they confirmed my situation was common and it happened all the time. The truck drivers I met over the road were very decent people who were horribly controlled by Werner. I really like the other drivers I met....truck drivers are some of the nicest people I have ever met in USA business. Werner drivers who tried to follow their dispatchers and/or load planners instructions are 100% liable for the outcome and repercussions of many tickets, DOT violations and some resulting in severe accidents or even prison. Werner runs a dangerous operation for new drivers and Werner gets paid very well from the federal government for doing it. I think the feds should close down Werner. Werner is costing drivers their income, their time and a means to support their families. My trainers family was homeless because of it. However, my trainers concerns were genuine that I learn how to safely drive OTR. Worse yet, Werner's methods cause traffic accidents resulting in injuries or fatalities (but, again, remember, in any court of law...the driver is 100% responsible). Some drivers lose their CDL-A because of violations that would avoided if Werner was functioning legally. What's happening to drivers at Werner should not be overlooked.

If you get hired by a a smaller trucking company, it would probably be much better. Everyone knows Werner drivers can't afford to eat. What bothers me so much, is Werner claims to be this really personal company that cares about their employees....it's a bunch of lies. It is a business strategy.

Wow, I'm glad you were able to get another job from one of Werner's customers at a DC. I had to take Werner off my resume before I could get a better job delivering LTL's in San Francisco. No one would hire me with Werner listed as my most recent employer on my resume. Werner's a bad rap. I just wish my school would have been more honest in telling me how bad it was. Werner never paid anything towards my CDL-A loan and I was told at my school, Werner would pay 1/2 of my monthly school loan payment for my CDL-A. I went into debt for about $7,000 to get my CDL-A and to try to work with Werner. Werner cheats their customers, too. I'm glad your new employer understands and hired you.
