Satellite Radio and stereo connections

The newer trucks will have the aux port, the older ones most likely will not. I have used all three ways, FM transmit, direct antenna connect, and aux port.

There is a tool for each type of radio to release it from the dash. I was lucky enough to be friendly with the shop guy, he had spare tools for the radio I had and gave me what I needed when I said I would do it myself. They like that sort of thing when the hardest they have to work is give you something.

But he's right new trucks have aux port old ones mostly do not but you could get lucky. I use the aux now and the fm way when the aux wasnt avaiable. Ive heard of other drivers using a fm transmitter. Ive never went that route or tried that way but I'm pretty sure maintenance shop guy could help you out.

 

how new of trucks are we talking 2000 on up or 2012 up???? do freightliners and internationals have the same ports on front of radio???

 

yeah i trained in a 2010 cascadia and I have a 2012 prostar now both have aux ports in the front. The freightliner columbia I had, had a aux port too but was damaged by another driver and replaced with a radio without one. Majority of the fleet is 2010-up slowly but surely getting rid of the 2006-2007's

 

i have a sirius with the direct connect cable getting rid of....have to hook up in txas area

 

Both of my columbias have had the aux ports. My satellite radio is hooked up that way.

 

Aux is simply better and none of that annoying bleed thhru. I hated that and really it kinda defeated the purpose a bit...

 

My power cord on my xm radio doesn't work anymore. The truck I have has satellite ready capability. Hindsy u talking it bleeds through and better off getting direct connect for the auxiliary port set up like I had b4?

 

my 2012 Prostar+ has a Sirius ready radio. I just called Sirius and had them activate it. It can be de-activated whenever I get booted from the truck. This way, I needed no extra hardware, didn't have to remove the stereo, etc. Keep it simple.
