been searching and researching trucking companies offering paid training for the past few weeks. i've applied to maverick, boyd, deboer, pam and usa trucking. none of them are hiring in my area which is leesburg,fl.
I am 45min away from Orlando and Ocala. 1hour 20min from Tampa. I would like to find a company I could stay with for a couple years at least before I find one that more suits me if the current one isn't. I am a father of four and time is not on my side. ANY advise would greatly help my search

Try Roehl, tho not sure if they hire in your area. Do you have your CDL and are looking for driver training, or are you looking for a company to get your CDL? Sorry if i missed something. If you already have your CDL, Schneider is another. From what I understand, Florida can be a tough hiring area. I'm sure one of the truckers from your area will see this sooner or later & can be of better help, more knowledgeable about companies in your area. They DO exist. Good luck, just keep looking & applying.

I'd call Conway truckload...they should still be hiring out of FL...as far as training goes it's through Crowder near Joplin MO...I think it's $3200 and I think after your first solo run you will get $2200 back ...call recruiting to check for sure...it's 4 weeks room & board with 3 meals a day...no contract to sign ...just pull that first load and that's it...look on here for various threads ...PM me if I can answer specific questions

I am a firm believer in avoiding company sponsored training. There are too many contract problems. You might find yourself stuck paying for something that you can't use.
Find a community college in your area that has a truck driving program. Contact their funding office and get their help. The government pays for truck driving classes. Pell Grants and such.
I oppose government grants as it devalues working but in this case it is an option.thinkinbouttruckin Thanks this. -
Yeah, I agree with Wooly, you don't want to become an indentured servant. Some companies do offer tuition reimbursement too, another option to consider but you have to lay out initial cash & they usually pay back in increments after segments of time with the company. Might be worth checking in to.

Rhino and Geppetto, funny you say that because earlier to day i went to the workforce office to find out if they had any vocational schools approved by them that i could check out. There are three of them with only one being totally approved (all expenses paid). I will be giving them a call first before I weigh in my options. The other two I think are a waist of time (road master, and another one i forget the name were too expensive even being over 75% covered by workforce). I know now by actually taking my time and thoroughly going about this, I better my chances of finding that first company to get screwed over by the least... The search continues...

Good luck !thinkinbouttruckin Thanks this. -
I would personally recommend Central Refrigerated. There are many other good companies out there that hire in Florida but this is the only one I have personally driven for and recommend. They sometimes have hiring freezes for Florida so just call and double check.
