Do you think Walmart will do with away with the private fleet or scale it down for cheaper costs??

I see they are moving dry goods and electronics to intermodal... I doubt they are going to buy more trucks..

Once again the movement of Walmart freight by contract carriers both over land and by rail is to cover inbound freight as well as consolidated freight headed from center points to DC's across the country. The private fleet is not a long haul operation so we rely on contractors to move that cross country freight. The increased movement of freight by contract carriers is a direct result of our continued growth. People that dont understand logistics think that if they see Swift pulling our equipment or JB loading rail cans that the company is phasing out private fleet operations. Actually we are hiring drivers at several DC's and like I said we continue to bring in tractors as fast as we can get them. The Challenger and Trucker Steve Thank this. -
