Desperate for a local job with more consistent pay and home-time, I called a number a friend gave me for a local logging company. It was a huge hassle to get home, but I managed to do it.

Once I got to the yard, I found three old trucks, none of which are roadworthy. Bald tires, broken, missing and nonfunctioning lights, broken or shifted leaf springs and more. I'm pretty sure any one of these painfully obvious things would put one of those trucks out of service.

    What gives?

I am afraid to drive one of these things because I know I'll get a ticket I can't afford and I don't want a CSA score.

I am tempted to look elsewhere.

How do you figure no highway time?.....:biggrin_2554:

Log trucks around here run highway all the time and go through DOT scales just like the rest of us.
They have to get to the mill or port somehow and they don't fly lol.

I guess it depends on where ya are,I live in logging country up here in WA and trucks run straight from the landing/deck to the mill out here rookie or not.
Young fella I know only 22 years old is hauling logs, just 1 year in an OTR truck and now he's hauling logs to the mill.

That is a call that only you can make. If it is unsafe in your mind and you think it not road worthy don't drive it. I have been known to turn jobs down after I saw the equipment. Just be able to explain to the next guy why you didn't take it. pictures will help your case.

More home time and regular pay rocks! But would you want your family member driving behind you while your hauling those logs? Money and home time won't clear your DMV/DAC and it sure won't pay the shifty lawyer that sues you and the company when it all goes to s...

you are being overly dramatic and acting like, well,a noobie.did you ask if these were going to be the trucks or just assume? i think you should try another type driving because driving a log truck takes a certain type driver and the way you are sheeeiting your pants now,you won't have what it takes to drive in and out of the woods w/double racks of heavy wood and skidders in front of you and behind you pushing and pulling you out of the woods.

your reek of noobie.sad as many outfits will cringe when a driver like you asks for an application.scared to even give something a try and bad mouth an outfit without knowing any facts-

do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
