I only know what payroll told me a couple weeks ago. I'm not sure if the solo-team snafu is to blame. But, I will check on it again. Got the truck out of the shop with everything fixed EXCEPT the shimmy in the steering at 60 mph. Took that issue to a different place and was told it's probably the alignment, but their machine broke, so I'm stuck with that for now.
Set my pta for in the morning since I had to get everything organized and cleaned. Mechanics are so messy. These guys had dirt and grease everywhere. Course, they did have both seats and most of the dash area out so there were greasy handprints everywhere. But, as soon as I got about halfway done, got a call from dispatch asking.if I could do an indy to dallas run delivering sunday noon. They figured I had 9 hours left to run so it would be a good fit. I think I'm going to be about 2 hours late on the delivery. Pick up at 2100 tonite and they (of course) haven't touched me yet and I now only have 6 hours and counting on my 14. I'll know more tomorrow. May have to get a repower to deliver on time or maybe they'll just reschedule. I'm just glad to be out of the shop and running.

RC, if the shimmy is minor, it may be able to wait until home-time. Just make sure you do a very thorough PTI each day, looking closely at the wheels and tires (lose lug nuts; unusual tire wear). But if you feel there's a safety risk contact breakdown using the DT (MAC21 for extended message).
Does this shimmy appear if you hit the brakes a little hard? -

Keep an eye on it. As long as its not correlated to braking you're probably fine. Increases and decreases in vibration based on the weight of the load sounds like tires or wheels.
Make a note on when this vibration occurs so you can inform the shop when you come in for home-time, and whether you feel it in the steering wheel or in your seat. Steering wheel vibration means front tires or steering gear, in the seat would denote the drives.
Stay on top of tire pressures. Get a tire pressure gage if you don't have one.
The more informed you are, the easier it will be for the shop to isolate the problem.NoCoCraig and DaReallyst Thank this. -
Hey Wedge, I'm in school in Orlando, Fl. at Roadmaster and I'm looking really hard at all my possible employers, USX is one of the front runners, this thread is a great tool and you are a GOD send. I'm in my 2nd week starting in the yard with the trucks and hope to be out on the road in about a month or so. USX seems like a good company, keep the inside scoop coming, I neeed all the info I can get! Oh, by the way, love the different topics of discussion on here, Thanks again.

Well, didn't get to deliver my original load to Dallas area. I would have been 5 hours late, so they repowered it. I was thinking I was only going to get an mty in return, but I ended up getting a load to Mesquite TX instead delivering 2359 today. D&H, so went on and delivered early, grabbed an mty, and headed to Irving terminal. Sitting now eating dinner and doing laundry. Whew! I was so needing those miles! I think with being in shop status I have 1100 for the week so far. No PP yet, but I'm out of hours for today anyway and at least I'm not in the NE right now. Mountains, yuck! LOL But, it is hot a heck down here right now! Going to finish this laundry and head back to the truck to relax and read. Have a great night everyone!
