hey killerbug, with 6 months exp you can lease to national carriers in their otr division.
but im not sure how national is any better than TA at all.

anyways how is it going over at TA?
i see this greenish TA t700 at the dodge truck stop all the time guy has a satellite on top of his truck... lol

Things are still going pretty good. I'd like to be making more money...but so would Bill Gates. At least I'm doing better than any of the people who I graduated from driving school with (most went over to Stevens; they rarely break $500 a week). I've been looking to get my own truck and go power-only but financing is a bit of an issue with 6 months experience, plus the better power-only fleets require 2-5 years experience. I'd buy a truck and lease it on a TA, but they have rules to stop that. Legally, I don't think they can just prevent people from doing it because the IRS would nail them for their phony "o/o" lease division, but the combination of their maximum truck age and weight limits prevents signing on anything but a day cab, and they won't allow signing on of a daycab anyway. I might actually give them a chance to let me sign on a truck that is over 2000lbs lighter than the T700 I'm in before I leave, but I already know the answer they will give (mostly want to see how they word it to avoid legal issues; should be funny).

Only reason why Trans Am hire yall guys in FL because nobody or not to many are. I know someone that's still working there as a company driver but your Olathe yard is sure full of trucks, late loads, & 50 swaps a day (& that's just between 3 dispatcher). I give Trans Am this they got some hell of equipment, if your T700 (it funny how just like the T660 bout next year company drivers be having the T700 & the new lease drivers be in the T680 :\......) don't mess up all the time. At least they get you out the hole as far as a loan but why do you want to do that if you still owing money. I was a company driver with them when they had that FAC Fleet & that was lovely. Drivers getting home most of the week, off every weekend & driver was getting between $500 to $1200 a week. You can't blame everything on Trans Am though, sometimes driver don't know what they are doing or have sorry training. All Trans Am is a good start up company (if you have a good dispatcher company driver or great dispatcher for lease driver, very few of them & don't last to long) get your experience & get out.

from what I've heard, the owners of Transam left Prime to start this company. That could explain a lot.

That's right I never knew that till I left, I heard he's in some pending federal trouble. Don't know how true it is though. I'm sure drivers or folks in the office wouldn't mind if he was gone though. I only heard 1 person say he was cool out of the majority drivers I talk to.

Trans Am also has rules about year model and condition of truck and weight restrictions of the truck
but you CAN lease your own truck to them
one of the trainers just bought his own freightshaker and leased back to transam to get his feet wet as an O/O
