    Hi everyone,

New to the forum. Hopefully, one day I will be new to trucking. I was trying to do all of my own research without bothering you guys, but I could really use some advise. I have a problem. I don't want to go through a contract school (C.R. England, Stevens, etc.), but I don't have $4000.00 for a private school. I make too much for grants and my credit has too many dings for a loan. I live in the dallas area, in between Dallas and Fort Worth, there are several outfits locally, so housing isn't an issue. I guess my question is; If you had to go with a contract trucking company, which would you go with. Or in other words, which is the "lessor of the evils." Stevens Transport, PAM, Central, FFE, etc.

    Thanks
    LSH

i hear the least bad about FFE especially if you dont have to live in the dorm
longest training and most money per week during training

    Thanks Transam Pete,

I heard that FFE was a real stickler about "backing up." I heard that if a student didn't get it down within the first couple of days, they turned them loose.

Con-way Truckload has a schooling program, however it is in MO. There is a dorm involved, but I think at the end you wind up paying almost nothing for it. Call Con-way recruiting for details.

FFE is probably the lessor of the evils, but it is totally subjective as to which is the best fit for you, CRST isnt bad as a training company either.

Well you're perfectly situated for Swift then, they have opened a new training school there, apparently in Corsicana, TX, and they have a terminal right there in Lancaster,TX. Check the thread on here New soon to be swift trainee!

There are other starter companies out there, just mentioning that one because of the availability of them to you and the Lancaster Terminal is pretty nice.

    Good Luck

I heard local colleges have classes. See if you can get a grant. Then you can say "I'm a college graduate". With a degree in commodity relocation. :biggrin_25519:
