My charge was my fault and for my first time EVER getting in trouble I got slapped with a felony and since I'm not someone who's stays in trouble I believed everything my court appointed lawyer said And I told her I DON'T WANT TO PLEA TO NO FELONY she told me no its a misdemeanor and I believed it.

Besides that I have had a pretty darn good work history before and after my charge lol my judge even gave me non reporting probation where all I had to do was make a phone call once a month...which also led me to believe it was a misdemeanor...

Now is that good enough?? If you saw my resume and saw me on the street you would never guess I had a felony

@Bseam everything in ya post bout sums it up...some companies want 3-5 years for misdemeanors, but what I would do is while you are in school I will start calling right away so you can have more than 1 pre hire and so you can research the company you about to join instead of making a choice on a 2-3 day time limit I almost did that and was about to settle for Carolina Cargo...if you can checkout West Side trucking they are a great company...

Funny how you do a crime,, do your time for it,(pay for it,get punished for it),,,, you still will pay for it for the rest of your life...... I've always felt if a person pays for the crime,, they should not be punished any further for it,, meaning, " DOUBLE JEOPARDY".

If I ever get big enough to hire people, I don't think I will let what they have done in the past and have ALREADY paid for blind my judgement or refuse to hire them for that reason.

Just because someone makes a few mistakes/misjudgments in life doesn't mean they should be forced to ONLY work for the bottom feeder companies.

Either way,, good luck with your choice and stay safe.

like u have never made any kind of mistake or have skeletons in ur closet; if God gives 2nd & more chances to everyone including u, why not give one of those guys another chance. i'm a felon, i was given a 2nd chance, took advantage of it & am doing quite well

attention ALL persons with a past who want to be a driver; whatever u have done in the past, be sure to let the prospective carrier know of it, don't short cut or leave anything out, give FULL DETAILS of the crime/incident etc. then once they say that ur approved or pre-approved, GET IT IN WRITING WITH SOMEONE WHO APPROVED OR PRE-APPROVED U (SAFETY MANAGER/DIRECTOR). it will save u time & headache by doing this. i know of a couple companies that will hire people who have past so contact me if u want their info.
