I was reading the trucking news...and it seems like the push for Mexican Drivers....is not going away.

Is there anything that can be done to stop this?

    What can Be done!

ATA (American Trucker Association) has called for the easing of the cabatage rules. These rules restrict foreign drivers such as Canadian and Mexican from hauling loads that load and deliver in the US. They now want them eased to allow these loads to be pulled by the other drivers. Just the kind of support we need from a group that represents us.

There is a push for some reason to join the whole north american continent as one organization, and develop a one currency like europe. No body is talking about this except Glenn Beck on his daily talk show. Yes I know: Now I'm the crack pot. But have you ever wondered why those on ramps to I 35 in laredo are 4 times higher and wider than any you've ever seen? I think it's because the Panamerican highway is supposed to be built under them, and continue to kansas city. And why for god's sake has the president ignored the border fence thing, he's resided in Texas. Can anyone imagine the letters and pressure he must be getting from his home state about them being invaded, and that he should be building the fence that was approved and budgeted for in 2004. the measure that passed, states that the border fence "shall be built". The only explanation is that he is in cahoots with some other interests??? Let's see what could be the problems arrising out of mexican drivers in the U.S.? They aren't policeable by local authorities, their companies don't pay the outrageous plate fees that maintain the interstate road system. They don't speak english so now we have to learn espanol to be politically correct. How do we get to an economic disaster and need for a new form of money? Yes, devalue the U.S. dollar to worthlessness in the world market. See, my evil plan is coming together nicely. Seriously folks we need to vote for a real conservative this time around. Some one who is as proud of this great nation as I am, and will be determined to protect our great place in the world, not delute it.

Realistically, this is not going to happen, and we are already defeated.

BEST case scenario, it will be a long, 20 year fight for OUR RIGHTS back. ("EQUAL RIGHTS")

The cold, hard reality is that the voice of the American "people" has lost its relevance. Revolution is out of the question and laughable, when a large percentage of our population thinks it's "GREAT" when they see/hear ads that are in spanish. (Trucking company ads, at that).

Our "people" are ignorant. Plain and simple. Maybe we're getting exactly what we deserve....

The ANTI TRUCKERS ASSOCIATION does not represent us, it represents corporate truck driving companies

anything that will give them another penny on the dollar, they will support

our problem is that we believe in the same people who will sell us to the wolves

ads in spanish are not the problem, the problem is that we american people are gullible and fat and lazy and we keep holding on to pipe dreams

when we wake up and face the stark realities of the world today, then we may be able to save ourselves

until then, lets debate whether hillary or fred is better, or blame the poor mexican for our problems

I just posted it the way it is written. I try not to influence people with inuendos and the like. There is rampant truth to the comment they are for corporate truck companies. However, they strive to expand their membership with the average trucker. I just hope to open the eyes of these drivers.

Many times I am guilty as most, about yelling fire in a crowded theater.

And, that's what we're doing here. As I stated, I'm guilty myself.

A quick look at the bigger picture....this requires much more effort than the average person wants to take.

    Drivers...

Have been here for years already. Those that have been able to get green cards, have done so. US companies pay better than Mexican companies.

    Trucks...

#1 EPA restrictions are currently being implemented that will render the "Mexican" trucks illegal and out dated.

#2 Those of you who ran out and purchased an APU "first". Will be caught in this same trap within the next 3 years. And forced to purchase a newer model.

#3 When implemented, the EPA restrictions will FORCE the Mexican carriers (and some US)to update their fleets...with US exclusive technology. Something they don't have to do at this moment.

#4 This means increased local jobs, and freight for American drivers. Since those "technological" products will be built in the US, and shipped via an "American" truck to Mexico (or the border) since their trucks will not be brought up to spec as quickly the US fleets will.

Simply look at the 2007 and 2010 EPA requirements for Class 8 trucks, and the fact that US companies are required to buy these upgrades NOW. Mexico will fall behind since they are not currently being required to purchase vehicles with these standards. There will come a time (it's in writing) when trucks without these standards, will not be allowed within the continental US.

By then.....The borders will be wide open, and we as Americans will freely travel the entire Trade Zone...while Mexico plays catch-up and BUYS American products shipped on American trucks. Canada will also get a share of this.

All is not doom and gloom It sure looks it, but taking a few hours to dig a bit deeper in these "hot" issues can help. We do have some more serious issues, other than Mexican drivers.

How many of you are aware of the political battle going on in Canada about the "Super Highway" and it's pipeline that will bring fresh water into the Southwest FROM Canada?

Who will OWN the pipeline that brings crude and fuel into the US from Mexico?

It appears that many Canadian politicians have found the underlying truth about a "North American" trade zone, and WHO will actually be calling the shots....America. And they are pi$$ed to say the least.

As Americans, we don't have exclusive concerns over NAFTA and the effects it will have on jobs and natural resources.
