Ok I stay near the Smithfield plant here in North Carolina & I always knew about they have the account but never inquire. If it was any other company I join right away, but hey I heard things about CR England but curious as far as local. I talk to a 3 driver and say they love it but they need drivers bad for the local fleet :biggrin_25520:. Does anybody else have experience with their local Smithfield tarheel account or that can share any information that can be useful?

My friend do yard work for cr england trailer when driver bring there empties in. He talk to one of the drivers & say that you home most the nights 34 hour reset on the weekends......... get $600 to $800 dollars a week (depending how many loads you drop off in a day) but he say they real strict as far as firing folk (basically if it seems like a fishy situation cover your ###). Say it's way different from what the OTR driver go through. (No #### hopefully) I'm still making my decision between them & knight heard knight got a NC NJ dedicated route (night driving) home most the time off weeks $800 $900 a week.............

Just remember. Ham has its seasons. From around Thanksgiving to Christmas you should make enough money to pay back some of your friends you have been borrowing from.

So do you like living in a truck? How about 2 34hr re-powers in a week at the beautiful Smithfield, VA yard. They have a sandwich, candy and pop machine even a microwave oven. You will never have to worry about personal drive time. To go to a store you have to be on duty. Not good for scheduling, but on the up side you will have plenty of time for your logs from waiting 20 hours between 200 mile assignments.

They say no pets allow, but the flies from the packing plant will give you constant companionship. I thought it was because I'm a slob, but the company neat freak had them too.

The Tar Heel plant is nothing but a model of a most efficient and elegant plan to make you, and you alone, fill happy and welcome. They really want you to stay. Most of the time, however you bust your butt to get their on time, you will find you are running about 9 hrs late. That is 8 hours of waiting for your load or paper work and 1 hour of looking for your trailer. For an added kick. Most of the other carriers pass you in the yard, cussing under their breath, as you will be creeping at 5 miles per hr. to go to the scales or the Gard shack or fuel line.

The good thing about Tar Heel, Smithfield, and Clinton (the only one you will want to shower at) is that you don't need permission to bobtail out of the place to go sleep somewhere else. The Clayton plant is like a roach hotel for truck drivers until you get a load.

Honestly the best thing about it is that your dm and planner do try to get you to your home location. It sort of made me mad when they caught ##### for my screwups.

It would also be helpful if you bowed your head in reverence whenever a rule or regulation is mentioned. Do watch the CR England monthly safety videos, or they dock your pay and never return it even after you have caught up with them.
