Me too. I just don't see it happening. Even after these Consessions, they're having troubles making a profit. They're running out if gimmicks.

Perhaps if we can get a new administration in the White House and new blood in Congress things will turn around. It may give business confidence and encourage them to start spending money. That will be better for everyone.

It's until you get a bid. You can call a number to find out where you are on the call list. Best to message Squonk as he would know more then me or skinny trucker

You will be on probation for 30 days. After that you will be in the union. As far as how long you'll be on call well, that might be a while. It sucks starting out on the extra board but we've all been thru it. Sometimes you'll get lucky and a senior guy forgets to bid and you'll end up with a 550 mile bid. I'm a team driver in Chicago and I know a lot of guys in buffalo that say they simply can't handle all the freight they have right now. No matter what the naysayers will tell you it will be the very best truck driving job you'll ever have especially if you have a family.

If they are starting you at top pay it is probably because they are bringing you on as a casual? That's how they did it to me at Yellow in 2006. When they hired me full time my pay went down to the starting level and would take 2 years to get back to top scale.

If you want the days of it would be a good idea to make that known to the company before accepting the position. Even then there could be a problem getting home. Most carrier do their best to get drivers home as needed. However, when you are over the road, nothing is guaranteed. If you take the job it would be good if you could remind your dispatcher periodically.
