Hi all...hope to be a regular trucker, and a regular here....But before I go any further I need an answer to one question....
I got a reckless driving charge about a year ago....Pretty sure that's the only thing on my license....If there is anything else it would be a speeding ticket from years ago....
Too much on my license ? Or will someone take a chance on me ?
thanks,
BT

reckless driving is tough to have on ur license especially it only being a year old.... most companies go back 3 years some go back farther.... its best to try to get on with a smaller carrier as they may be less picky...depending on ur age it maybe impossible to find a job with that on there all i can say is try it cant hurt to check...if that doesnt work keep ur nose clean for the next 2 years and be ready to take a refresher course if ur already enrolled and going to truck driving school

I'm 40 years old....If I would look at a smaller carrier would that me lower pay, lamer truck, etc ? One thing I am hoping to impress any company with i the fact that I will basically live in the truck all year except for X-mas, Thanksgiving, and maybe a few other times per year.
Oh I forgot to mention I have never driven Big Rig before....So I would have to go through all the schooling and everything else. -
Probably have to let a couple.more years go by. Insurance don't like reckless charges. FYI if your speeding ticket was 15 or more over it is considered.reckless also.

Also, as the new.guy, you will likely be in the trucl at thanksgiving, xmas etc.

Blue Thunder, have you pulled your MVR to take a look at it and see what is on it? It only costs $10-$14 to get a copy of it from the DMV. Most tickets will only stay on your driving record for 2 years depending on your state. Most carriers do not allow more then 1 moving violation within the past 3 years. If you have more then one, then I agree that you will have to go to a smaller company. So the first step is find out what is on your MVR, and then talk to a company that provides truck driving training or a vocational school. You will need to be honest and upfront with them about your MVR, and any criminal history. If it is a misdemeanor charge then most companies require that you have no misdemeanor charges within the past 5 years and if it is a felony charge it has to 7-10 years old.
BlueThunderr and 123456 Thank this. -
Hey mama thanks for your answer....My Mom works at DMV so I'll have her get a report of my driving record
-
good luck with that, i hope you can make it.

I would call around to several companies and ask about your record before you even commit to trucking school. Reckless driving on your record is a big "no no" and you will really have a tough time finding a company that will hire you.
BlueThunderr Thanks this.
