I was making some local deliveries last week and noticed quite a few TMC trucks in and out Gerdau Ameristeel in Petersburg Va plant. Does anyone know if the hire new drivers? I think the Training is in Iowa, anyone been there, have experience with TMC? I live in Va so would this be easy for weekend hometime.? They seem to have nice trucks.

I don't have the 1yr OTR experience companies want . Had my cdl b for years but just obtained my class A this past january.

Look on the flatbed forum. There are a few threads on TMC there. Yes their training facility is in Iowa.

They have some of the nicest looking trucks around IMO. They do hire new drivers and students.

By noticing trucks around your home area you have done the first most important thing in picking a company. If they are there, you will get home. TMC actively recruits from the school I went to 8 years ago. I got a ruler from them to make logging easier. I was not recruited by them so I can't give you advice on the company but they are big enough to probably be in business for awhile. Give them a call and see. Flatbeds can be fun for the young.

    elroy33 Thanks this.

I think I will give them a shout and see what they have to say. My drawback will probably be that i did not attend a truck school. Most companies want that certificate i have noticed, and the pay you recieve for training is minimal. Thanks for the info.

TMC will hire you if you're fresh out of school or if you've had at least 1 year of Class A OTR experience. As for down time they say they can get you home on most weekends. It all depends on where you live.
